Teen Girl Conquers Everest of Sailing

It's considered the Mount Everest of sailing, the southernmost tip of South America and the nexus of the South Pacific and Southern oceans, where vicious winds and violent swells have earned it the title "sailors' graveyard."

But last night a 16-year-old Queensland schoolgirl in a pink 10-meter yacht rounded Cape Horn with little fanfare, quietly conquering one of the most imposing milestones in her 23,000 nautical mile solo, unassisted, around-the-world sailing bid.

"It's after years of dreaming and this huge build-up so it's really, really special and it feels like I've turned a corner," Jessica Watson told The Daily Telegraph. More>>
