Just who are the people of Appalachia? The Appalachians are one of the most negatively perceived groups in the United States -- often portrayed as backwards, uncivilized, "trash-like," and racist. However, their history and culture is inextricably tied to that of the entire country, and they have often been misunderstood. Appalachians are unlike any other regionally-based cultural group in the U.S. This video attempts to explore the reasons why.
