The Geshema is Born (trailer)
(PBST India) Tibetan Buddhist nuns have for centuries pursued the audacious goal of equality within their ancient tradition. Empowered by the current Dalai Lama, they now receive the highest monastic degree – the geshema or doctoral (Ph.D.) degree.

Malati Rao has been making documentaries for over a decade, several of which have been broadcast on public television. Handmade in India, on India’s craft traditions, and Born Behind Bars, about children growing up in prison, have been applauded at several film festivals. Malati holds an MFA in film and media arts from Temple University, USA, and an Master's in mass communications from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi.

Rajiv Mehrotra is the founding managing trustee and commissioning editor of PSBT. His films have won more than 300 awards worldwide, including 32 in 31 years from the president of India. His nine books are available in 50 languages and editions. He serves as the trustee/secretary of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility of HH the Dalai Lama.

PSBT (psbt.org) is a not-for-profit that has nurtured and supported the production of independent documentary films by a diversity of filmmakers from across India. Over two decades, it has produced close to 700 documentary films, each film averaging two film festival selections and every other film an award.
PSBT is led by some of India's iconic film personalities: Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal, Sharmila Tagore, with Fali Nariman, and Kiran Karnik. From its inception in 2000, Tulika Srivastava was a key member of the team, joined in 2005 by Ridhima Mehra.

The Foundation for Universal Responsibility of HH the Dalai Lama (furhhdl.org) was established with the Nobel Peace Prize. It works at the intersection of his commitments to help all sentient beings find personal happiness and for there to be peace on our fractured planet.
