Vimana or heavenly mansion (wiki)
The Petavatthu ("Ghost Stories") and Vimānavatthu ("Angel Stories") are some of the most ancient and popular Buddhist texts with interesting stories that reveal much about people's wrongdoings and upright behavior, their well-done and ill-done deeds, and the karmic-results (phala and vipaka) that followed.
In ancient times when Buddhism became popular among rulers, merchants, warriors (administrators), tribals, and commoners, monastics used to preach based on stories from these books to try to make them understand the Buddha’s teachings on karma.
