How Nelson Mandela got respect in prison

Nelson Mandela: This is how I got racist guards to RESPECT me in PRISON | Top 10 Rules
(Evan Carmichael, April 7, 2016) He was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, ex-con, politician, and philanthropist.

Who's gaslighting the public?
He served as president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999, [whose name is synonymous with mystery because of the Mandela Effect, given that he died (and details of his funeral were published in a South African schoolbook) yet managed to carry on and die again -- or so the memory of many goes].

He is held in deep respect within South Africa, and he's often described as the "Father of the Nation." He's Nelson Mandela and here are his Top 10 Rules for Success.*
  • 1. Demand Respect. He attended Fort Hare University and the University of Witwatersrand, where he studied law.
  • 2. Prove them wrong. He became involved in anti-colonial politics, joining the ANC.
  • 3. Use your time wisely. Influenced by Marxism, he secretly joined the South African Communist Party.
  • 4. Don't worry about labels. In 1962, he was convicted of conspiracy to overthrow the state and sentenced to life in prison.
  • 5. Be humble. He served 27 years in prison. An international campaign lobbied for his release.
  • 6. Have heroes. He joined negotiations to abolish apartheid and establish multiracial elections in 1994.
  • 7. Take a stand. He was the country's first Black chief executive.
  • 8. Manage your emotions.  He also created the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate past human rights abuses.
  • 9. Be willing to die for your cause. He was secretary general of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1998 to 1999.
  • 10. Speak with conviction. He received more than 250 honors, including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize.
