NEW Beavis & Butt-Head movie (June 23)

Most well-adjusted people might hate Beavis & Butt-Head. "They're so stupid," as my well-adjusted sister is fond of saying. As bright and liberal and well-educated as she is, one would think she should be a little more openminded toward the closed-minded and/or maladjusted.

This rock! Finally! Uh, uh, uh!
She would probably love Mike Judge's other works, Office Space, Daria, Idiocracy, King of the Hill. But this sign of the apocalypse she could not bear, and she gave me an example of their stupidity -- their obsession with any reference even tangentially sexual and that stupid laugh, 'Huh huh huh huh huh huh...'"

I asked if she were joking. She insisted that she was not! I said, "I only ask because what you just said IS the funny part. That's why it's funny."

"What's the why it's funny?" she countered.

What does it take to get through to you, Boys?
"Because they're so dense, so not getting it, so searching for sense or coherent meaning in an effed up world watching MTV videos for answers or dangerous entertainment (ala Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit").

"It's brilliant enough to recognize how much most of those music videos suck, obsessed with anything even slightly sexual due to testosterone-poisoning as teenage American boys in hypocritical, double-standard, Christian America in a more or less conservative part of what seems to be Texas with one glorious example of a hippie-liberal on their side, their ever-optimistic teacher."

These must not have been my exact words. Rarely would I wax eloquently in defense of a silly yet painfully honest look at the state of America. Enough with the fake world of TV cartoons, the fake all-American family, the fake rock star diet we're constantly fed.

Hooray for all the self-effacing, MTV-destroying, people-mocking Butt-Head and Beavis (both voiced by Judge) can muster! It's brilliant. It was way better than the diet of Simpsons' pablum we were all raised on, which used to be good and daring and became so safe, standard, and moralizing.

Norwegian Death Metal rocks, Beavis!
It's exactly because B&B are stupid, pointing out the negative, being dumb and immature innocents, that we can see reality in glimpses. Oh yeah, I'm just like them sitting watching MTV expecting it to be better than it is because there's nothing else to do but eat junk food and grow up and out of this teen angst.

The show wasn't about the story, much like Family Guy is more about cutaway gags than a narrative arc. The show was about eviscerating shttty videos we were all sick of watching on infinite repeat on MTV as TV (spoofed in Winona Ryder's Reality Bites) was turning us into Beavises and Butt-heads.

Beavis & Butt-Head Do America was a severe disappointment. All that Mike Judge could have done and gotten away with that MTV would never have been able to air gone to waste. Here's another chance. Beavis & Butt-Head Do the Universe...is probably going to suck. But rumor has it, B&B are coming back with the video-mockery reattached -- which, as was already said, was always the best part that should have never been removed.

Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe (trailer)
Space and time travel? What a future.
(Paramount, June 2, 2022) In perhaps the dumbest space movie ever made, Beavis and Butt-head are sentenced to Space Camp by a "creative" judge in 1998, leading to a trip on the Space Shuttle, with predictably disastrous results. After going through a black hole, they reemerge in our time, where they look for love, misuse iPhones, and are hunted by the Deep State. Spoiler: They still don't score. Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe begins streaming June 23 exclusively on Paramount+.

WARNING: Vulgar and stoopid cartoon for adults, not children, who should watch, uh, The Simpsons?
