Rainy Day Candle Gazing Meditation (11/7)

DUE TO EXPECTED RAIN, WE'LL BE INDOORS THIS WEEK IN THE MONROE ROOM of the Monrovia Community Center, 119 W. Palm Ave. We will be candle gazing (trāṭaka).

This week we're indoors.
Local Park Ranger Tod, who trained at UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center or MARC, leads a secular Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) meditation.

The group is big, regularly reaching 19-24 participants each Monday. We gently stretch, do mindfulness of walking, then enter a guided meditation.

I can't gaze with mindfulness...or can I?
MBSR uses mindfulness (nonreactive open or focused consciousness) to approach anxious states and transform them into opportunities to grow in awareness, joy, acceptance, and happiness, with a sharing circle afterward.

Bring a shawl or blanket and an open spirit to sit with a heartfelt community nestled in LA's Foothills. FREE, no donations.
