The canonical accounts of Jesus' crucifixion state that Jesus' body while on the cross was stabbed [to keep him from drowning in his own fluids, as happens in Roman crucifixion] allegedly to check for a response. No response was detected. What was noted is that blood flowed from the stab wound along with clear fluid, showing his life was saved because that fluid fills the lungs in this position for a protracted time.
