Tulku: childhood of Tibetan Grand Lama

SLICE, 11/22/22; CC Liu, Pat Macpherson, Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

The childhood of a Tibetan grand lama | SLICE
(SLICE) DARJEELING, Nepal - Ratak Puntso seems like any other 2-year-old, but he has always been destined for an exceptional life. Recognized as the tulku or reincarnation of the Vajrayana Buddhist Grand Master Kalu Rinpoche, Ratak is already inducted as a grand lama of Tibetan Buddhism. He will spend his childhood without much contact with peers of his own age. Instead, he will be surrounded by monks, tutors, and servants who all take part in passing down the Tibetan [Bon/Buddhist] teaching as well as protecting the “precious” child.
  • Documentary: The Lama Child, directed by Jeanne Mascolo and Bruno Vienne, and produced by Mona Lisa Production
