Irish rappers who rap in Gaelic? (Kneecap)

KNEECAP | official trailer (2024)
Ireland can never be free so long as England has a colonial chokehold on it. Free Ireland!
.
Jump around, Lads, like HOP!
(Sony Pictures Classics) Summer 2024: White men can't jump. Everyone knows it. But can they rap as in craic (pronounced \crack\) with a tune like they're reading Joyce on molly to a beat on the ones and twos? That, mate, is the question. This trio is like the white version of the Beastie Boys. lol This is a true story, though not a full documentary, about a crew of Celtic rappers in the Irish language, singing about what they see going on around them. Is it a first? What about House of Pain, following on Latin Thug rappers Cypress Hill? It's been done in the States, but had it ever been done in Dublin, p*ssing off the Unionist Protestants still reeling from the glorious Battle of the Boyne?

Jimmy O'Fallon welcomes the lads to his US TV show: "Sick in the Head"

Written and directed by Rich Peppiatt. Starring Naoise Ó Cairealláin “Móglaí Bap,” Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh “Mo Chara,” JJ Ó Dochartaigh “DJ Provaí,” Josie Walker, Fionnuala Flaherty, Jessica Reynolds, Adam Best, with Simone Kirby and Michael Fassbender.
(Late Late Show) Controversies, rapping in Irish, storming Sundance

Synopsis
If you're born Irish, you're lucky enough.
When fate brings Belfast schoolteacher JJ into the orbit of self-confessed "low life scum" Naoise and Liam Og, the needle drops on a hip-hop act like no other.

Rapping in their native Irish language, Kneecap fast become the unlikely figureheads of a Civil Rights Movement to save their mother tongue (Gaelic to us, just called "Irish" in Ireland).

But the trio must first overcome police, paramilitaries, politicians trying to silence their defiant sound -- whilst their anarchic approach to life often makes them their own worst enemies.

We love sports risking kneecap injuries!
In this fiercely original sex, drugs, and hip-hop biopic, the musical group Kneecap play themselves, laying down a global rallying cry for the defense of native cultures. #Kneecap #OfficialTrailer #SonyClassics
