Goddess of Love Inanna Queen of Heaven

Inanna [a] is the ancient Mesopotamian Goddess of War, Love, and Sex (the Aphrodite and Venus of olde). She is also associated with divine law, political worldly power, sensuality, and procreation (fertility).

Originally worshipped in Sumer (by the Sumerians), she was also known to the Akkadians, Babylonians, and Assyrians as Ishtar [b]. Her primary title is "The Queen of Heaven."

Then the West called her Venus, Goddess of Love

She was the patron goddess of the Eanna temple at the City of Uruk, her early main religious center. In archaic Uruk, she was worshipped in three forms:

1. Morning Inanna (Inana-UD/hud),
2. Evening Inanna (Inanna sig),
3. Princely Inanna (Inanna NUN).0

The first two reflect the phases of her associated planet Venus [5, 6], the Morning Star. Her most prominent symbols include the lion and the eight-pointed star.

Her husband is the God Dumuzid (later known as Tammuz), and her sukkal (attendant) is the Goddess Ninshubur, later conflated with the male deities Ilabrat and Papsukkal. More
