ROME — The Dalai Lama is now an honorary citizen of Rome. The Tibetan spiritual leader received the honor during a ceremony Monday and vowed to pursue nonviolent action "until death."

Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno pledged his support for the leaders' struggle to seek greater autonomy for Tibet. Alemanno presented the Dalai Lama with a small statue of the she-wolf, a symbol of Rome.

The Dalai Lama has resumed his busy schedule of international travel to teach Buddhism and highlight the Tibetan struggle after a number of health problems in recent months. He is scheduled to be in Venice on Tuesday to receive the city's honorary citizenship. Source
