A Buddhist Nun's Bliss (video)

Sister Nhu Nghiem talks about the reasons for leaving the Tibetan tradition and deciding to ordain with Thich Nhat Hahn with which she was originally affiliated. She went from mantras (repetition of sacred sounds), hours of meditative bliss (jhanas), and the fruits of concentration back to mindfulness and helping others as her predominant endeavor. While both Vajrayana in Tibet and Zen in Vietnam are Mahayana Buddhist traditions, Sister Nhu explains that the latter is more focused on helping others. Bodhicitta (literally, enlightenment-mind) refers to the aspiration to achieve enlightenment, or conduct oneself in an enlightened way, for the benefit of others.
