MLK Jr. - Republican or Democrat?
Would Martin Luther King Jr. be a "Republican" or a "Democrat"? To think he'd be either is foolish.
Both American political parties -- and we only have two, in league with one another to monopolize power, allowing no organized third voice -- are more alike than different.
Both are for war. Both parties are for corporations. Both parties look after the interests of the elite in society. In contrast, King was a champion of the people, all of the people, all races (even white, even non-Christian, even racists), not a select special interest group. He did not take a Libertarian stance, or a Socialist stance, or a Communist stance (as the White House and FBI tried to portray him).
He stood with others on principle, peacefully agitating for a greater, more equal, more prosperous society for us all. Maybe we should, too. As the Great Empire, we are the example for the world (NNick12).
But what about Pres. Barry Obama? He is merely a kinder face for the same power structure that was in place before him. Has anyone noticed we didn't get the "change we need," the change we were promised? Oh, everybody? Everybody notices.
