Egyptian soldiers and police are brutally beating protesters in Cairo's Tahrir Square. Unarmed protesters withstood beatings and battling with heavily armed military forces firing live rounds, buckshot, rubber projectiles, and a seemingly endless supply of crippling tear gas.

After protester demands for a more rapid transition to civilian rule were not met, the new liberation governing authority turned into an oppressive. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss," as it were. Protests against the military government have entered a third bloody day. Many of the same protesters who pushed former Pres. Hosni Mubarak from power now seek to rid themselves of new military dictatorial rule as well.
