When I was 7: The Life of the Buddha (video)
Dhr. Seven, Kalyani, and Amber Dorrian, Wisdom Quarterly; BBC.co.uk (video)
Minute 13:13 explains how Prince Siddhartha Gautama of the Shakya Clan living on the northwest frontier of greater "India" (in the city of Kapilavastu in modern Afghanistan or Nepal) entered the first meditative absorption (jhana) at age seven. This astounding experience was the turning point that only came to fruition many years later under the Bodhi tree. This spontaneously blissful and absorbed state of mind (serene heart) became the happy foundation for the stable development of liberating insight-knowledge which resulted in enlightenment (bodhi) and a glimpse of final liberation from all disappointment (nirvana).
