Revolution - Nothing Less (movie premieres)

Pat Macpherson, CC Liu, Ashley Wells, Wisdom Quarterly
BA Speaks: REVOLUTION—NOTHING LESS!
This movie premieres July 20, 2013 (free) in the Los Angeles Central Library, following an opening in New York, and followed by screenings in Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Roshi Jeff Albrizze recently asked, What we can do in response to American racism, the Zimmerman case, and the protests?

Answer: If one wants an instant solution, an immediate utopia, there is no one thing we can do. But if rather than thinking in terms that produce procrastination and a sense of being stuck and hopeless, we go item by item, there are many things we can do! One cannot eat a submarine (grinder, hoagie) sandwich. But one can eat little or big bites of a submarine sandwich. This may inspire us to pace ourselves and eat.

Fall, 2012: Radical revolutionary Bob Avakian gives a series of talks in various cities, and the result is this film. Why attend? Simply put, this is the most important thing we can be doing for society. It deals with the most important thing -- bringing into being a radically different world.

What world? A world where all the madness, the oppression, the injustice, the abuse and degradation that is so much a part of our life right now would be done away with. Apart from enlightenment, which is not a mutually opposed option, can anyone think of something more important? If so, there are other movies this weekend:

July 2013: This chilling documentary of what can happen in America, executive produced by Errol Morris ("The Fog of War") and Werner Herzog ("Grizzly Man"), examines the plight of Indonesia, a formerly Buddhist and Hindu now predominantly Muslim land. Death squad leaders who killed a million civilians are still celebrated as heroes. Here they are challenged to reenact their real-life mass killings in the style of the American movies they love. The hallucinatory result is a cinematic fever dream, an unsettling journey deep into the imaginations of mass murderers and the shockingly banal regime of corruption and impunity they inhabit. Shaking audiences at the 2012 Toronto and Telluride Film Festivals, The Act of Killing is an unprecedented film and, according to the Los Angeles Times, "could well change how you view the documentary form."
