The Epic of Gilgamesh (full story)
This video tells the tale of the adventures of King Gilgamesh and his trustworthy friend Enkidu in brief. The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest written story known to exist. The oldest existing versions of this poem date back to 2000 BCE and were written in Sumerian cuneiform, whereas a complete version dates back to 700 BCE in the Akkadian language. Although the texts were lost for thousands of years, the tale still spread throughout Europe and Asia. Even the ancient Greeks and the later Romans mentioned King Gilgamesh as late as 200 ACE. The story was rediscovered in 1839 by British archeologist Austen Layard, leading to the uncovering of much from the lost Mesopotamian civilizations.
