LAPD beat Rodney King 30 years ago today
Comedian Chris Rock (satire); CBS Los Angeles; Eds., Wisdom Quarterly
(CBS Los Angeles, March 3, 2021) On 30-year anniversary of the Rodney King beating by racist LAPD officers, L.A. recalls one of the most defining moments in the history of the city, for it led to a rebellion known as the L.A. Uprising. It was three decades ago today that one of the most defining moments in Los Angeles history took place, changing the face of the city forever. When the DA moved the trial of the officers to conservative Simi Valley, they were acquitted and the city and world was outraged. An uprising ensued, and police kept it going by containing it to the predominantly Black and Brown parts of the city.
