(PATVH Georgia, USA streamed live 2/19/22) In terms of karma and merit, to whom is it most meritorious and karmically beneficial to give a gift? Pa Auk Sayadaw, in his book The Workings of Kamma, has developed this hierarchal list. It is profitable to give to all, but part of the merit depends on the receiver. The more moral, the more profitable it is to give to them. Part depends on the giver and the giver's intention (cetana) motivating the giving. These factors contribute to what results will come of karmic actions and over how many lifetimes.
