Worse than the "male privilege" males are blind to is the internalized sexism of females. We are blind to our "colonized" minds when we defend patriarchy, attack or harass, or trivialize the harm being done to females in particular and society in general. Thanks, K.

Male privilege in America means never having to think of anyone else's boundaries. Sexual harassment (eave teasing) is already a violation and a slippery slope to the R word.

A video director has filmed an actress as she walked the streets of New York City to highlight the harassment women face in the U.S. on a daily basis. In 10 hours Shoshana Roberts was subjected to more than 100 catcalls from men she passed. She told the BBC that the sort of behavior she experienced was not unusual (BBC, facebook, twitter, instagram).

Why do a majority of us perpetuate a system that discriminates against a majority of us?

C'mon, stupid b*tch, smile for us!
If readers take nothing more from this video experiment it's this: Don't tell anyone to "smile" and think you're doing them a favor. You are asking for yourself and fooling yourself that you're doing them a favor. Are women here to please you, to dress up for you, to be thin and svelte for you? Or are they humans doing their own thing, which has nothing to do with you? Do you dress for all of them, hold your face in a certain pleasing way no matter how you feel, or watch your weight for them? Think. Marry your compassion to your thinking. Sexism is more subtle than our racism.
