The Hahamongna Cooperative Nursery in Pasadena is a valuable asset to the Arroyo Seco ("Dry Riverbed") and the Southern California foothill communities, providing affordable native plants for restoration, conservation, and park uses.

Native plants have evolved and adapted to deal with the variability of Los Angeles' local climate and the new challenges of erratic climate change.

California's drought underscores the sustainability benefits of native plants in the Southland. River restoration efforts in the Arroyo Seco, the Hahamongna watershed, and along the Los Angeles River have accentuated the unmet need for plants that are regionally sourced and native to the area.

In addition to restoration efforts, it is now imperative that Pasadena and Southern Californians focus on transforming the landscaping of residences, parks, and businesses to meet the challenges of drought, fire, erosion, and climate change.

Native plants are a uniquely appropriate solution, and Hahamongna Cooperative Nursery, in addition to growing native plants, is an educational hub to promote and spread these plants.
