New Age con artists and sex gurus may get richer and richer with more followers by selling acquisition, aversion, and delusion in more palatable forms (say like maybe "abundance, righteous anger, and assertiveness" or a million other guises), mixing nonsense and quotes, woo-woo and wisdom. But for genuine spiritual teachings from the East, it is important to stay grounded in the texts and personal mystical direct experience. The pure teachings have lasted this long because they are true and verifiable. If they are mere theories and abstractions, paradoxes and koans, they are of little use to us.
