Suppressed Histories Archives: 50 years for women's heritages
Cupie and Barbie dolls may not be archived.
Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of a global women’s history portal -- the Suppressed Histories Archives -- with Ms. Max Dashu and guest performers.

Dashu founded the archives in January 1970 documenting women's history and heritages. Teaching with images is her way of making women visible across time and space.

She displays some of the most inspiring images that we’ve never seen, with short excerpts from visual talks on a wide spectrum of subjects.
Who is Max Dashu?

Artist and archivist Max Dashu (facebook.com)
Ms. Max Dashu is the founder of the Suppressed Histories Archives.

She built a collection of 50,000 images on women's cultural heritages, reflecting the full spectrum of the world's peoples, from archeology, historical records, and photographs.

She is internationally known for her expertise on ancient female icons (seers, healers, shamans, medicine women, wise women, herbalists, witches) and matriarchal cultures.

She is also known for her study of patterns of domination: patriarchy, colonization, involuntary servitude and slavery, systems of class and caste, racism and witch hunts.

The Suppressed Histories Archives or SHA contains articles, image galleries, visual webcasts, and other resources.

Max Dashu created two videos, Women's Power in Global Perspective (2008) and Woman Shaman: The Ancients (2013).

Her book Witches and Pagans: Women in European Folk Religion, 700-1000 will soon be followed by a second volume Pythias, Melissae, and Pharmakides: Women in Hellenic Culture.

See her daily posts on the SuppressedHistories.net page on Facebook, the Veleda blog, History Sibyl podcasts, and video channel for a wealth content that is all open source.
