Columbus statue being removed from L.A.

LA City/County Native American Indian Commission; Xochitl, Dhr. Seven, Wisdom Quarterly

Columbus "discovery" lie persists.
As a result of decades of community-wide action, the Columbus statue is being removed tomorrow morning at Grand Park. This is a testament to the strength and perseverance of the L.A. Indigenous (Native American) community and its allies.

It’s important that we use this moment to recognize and acknowledge the Yaavitam, the first people of this ancestral and unceded territory of Yaangna that we now know as Downtown Los Angeles. We honor their elders, past and present, and the Yaavitam descendants who are part of the GabrieleƱo Tongva (Kizh) and the FernandeƱo (San Fernando Valley) Tataviam Nations.

The Los Angeles City/County Native American Indian Commission thanks the greater Los Angeles Indigenous community, Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell, and Supervisor Hilda Solis for their leadership in making this happen.

Please join us to witness this historical event.
