Lamp vs. Laser: Brain enhancements of CIA

Lamp vs. Laser: Brain enhancement techniques listed in a CIA document
(Video Advice, May 12, 2022) The report entitled "Analysis and Assessment of the Gateway Process" was penned in 1983 by U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Wayne M. McDonnell.

McDonnell described the Gateway Experience as "a training system designed to bring enhanced strength, focus, and coherence to the amplitude and frequency of brainwave output between left and right hemispheres so as to alter consciousness, moving it outside the physical sphere so as to ultimately escape even the restrictions of time and space."

In simpler terms, the Gateway Experience uses sound to manipulate brainwaves with the goal of creating an altered state of consciousness in which a person can interact with nonphysical aspects of reality.

"Practical uses of the technique, according to the CIA report, include manifesting goals, converting energy to heal one's body, and even traveling across space and time to access new information."

Jesus in India, Pt. 4: Lost Gospels, Tantra

Jesus in India: Lost Gospels and Tantric Secrets
(Paul Wallis, Australia, July 8, 2022) What connects Christianity with Tantric Buddhism? Do the Gnostic Gospels and tantric secrets hold a key to the story of the "resurrection" of Jesus? When we apply form analysis, source analysis, and etymology to the stories of the Bible, layers of hidden story emerge. It's true of the Elohim (gods) stories in the Hebrew scriptures, and it's true of Jesus (Saint Issa) in the New Testament.

In Part 4 of this Jesus in India series the idea is explored further with some personal reflections on the implications.

Ricardo Francis Zayas(Ricardo Francis Zayas, pinned by Paul Wallis, 7/23/22) If the Pali canon was not written down until the 1st century B.C.E., how could the Mahaparanibbana Sutta ("The Great Final-Nirvana Discourse") be disseminated to locations in the Middle East and Europe of the 1st century AD? Did the sutra make its way to the Middle East via oral tradition or writing?

My friend's a Western Hindu (music video)

Hare Rama Hare Krishna: "Dum Maro Dum"
Back in 1971 India had a hippie problem, a bunch of Western potheads coming to Rishikesh, Haridwar, the circuit extending from Buddhist Afghanistan, through Kashmir, and all the places bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were tripping through or singing about back in the heyday of hippies. Indians were aggrieved that so many Western burnouts came up into the Himalayas to smoke ganja out of yogi pipes and worship Hindu deities or practice bhakti, that is, devotion the way the Christians do for their deities.

Dum Maro Dum translates as "Puff, take a puff," a reference to the ingenue's innocence being corrupted by those damn hippies are their weed worship. Will her big brother save her in time? What if she gets caught up in that "free love" movement of theirs? She might kiss someone in public!

Jesus of India was also an object of veneration for both Indian Hindus and Western converts. It got so bad, Bollywood made a popular movie about it, the Hare Rama Hare Krishna (Rama = God, Krishna = Krist figure) film, which follows a wayward girl gone wild and the loving brother who searches for her among those demented, drug-addled burnouts. It's kitschy, as most Bollywood fare is, then as now, but it sure boosted Krishna's popularity that would soon give rise to the Hare Krishna (ISKCON) Movement in the U.S.

One can see how our cultural appropriation gets a little wearing on Indians

"Dum Maro Dum" may be the best track in the score. It's a Hindi song from the film with Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman in the lead. The song was conceived of by RD Burman. It's Indian psychedelic rock classic.

Tibetan Bowls: Healing, Meditation, Relaxation

Wouldn't it be better to forget the devotional music of, say, Hari Krishnas, and practice a more direct approach to spirituality via meditation? Ancient Tibetan technology can help with that, as the art of making "singing bowls" puts us at a higher frequency for meditative success. If the goal is relaxation, clarity, calm, healing, or absorbing (meditating), the soothing sounds of a gong are a good start.

How to reprogram mind (Dr. Bruce Lipton)

How to REPROGRAM your mind: Dr. Bruce Lipton
(After Skool, June 9, 2020) Dr. Bruce Lipton, Ph.D., is an internationally-recognized leader in bridging science and spirit.

Stem cell biologist, bestselling author of The Biology of Belief, and recipient of the 2009 Goi Peace Award, he has been a guest speaker on hundreds of TV and radio shows, as well as keynote presenter for national and international conferences.

In 1982, Dr. Lipton began examining the principles of quantum physics and how they might be integrated into his understanding of the cell’s information processing systems. He produced breakthrough studies on the cell membrane, which revealed that this outer layer of the cell was an organic homologue of a computer chip, the cell’s equivalent of a brain.

His research at Stanford University’s School of Medicine between 1987 and 1992 revealed that the environment, operating though the membrane, controlled the behavior and physiology of the cell, turning genes on and off.

His discoveries, which ran counter to the established scientific view that life is controlled by the genes, presaged one of today’s most important fields of study, the science of epigenetics (that which is eipi- or above genetics, which turns some genes on and some off).

Two major scientific publications derived from these studies defined the molecular pathways connecting the mind and body. Many subsequent papers by other researchers have since validated his concepts and ideas.

Arhat Dr. Daniel Ingram on real MAGIC

Dr. Daniel Ingram, Steve Viking Guru; Dhr. Seven, Pat Macpherson (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Magick, The Occult, and Summoning Demons with [arhat] Daniel Ingram
Science says magic is real (Dr. Dean Radin)
(Guru Viking, Episode 68) Premiered Nov. 13, 2020. In this episode Guru Viking is once again joined by Dr. Daniel Ingram, MD, meditation teacher and author of Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha.

Ingram is best known for his controversial claim to arhatship (full enlightenment), one of the highest levels of enlightenment in Theravada Buddhism (just under nonteaching buddhahood and supreme teaching buddhahood).

Less well known is Ingram’s lifetime of practice in magic and the occult. In this interview he reveals his magical biography and comments on various systems including
  • Goetia,
  • Enochian,
  • Kabbalah,
  • Thelema,
  • Castaneda,
  • Buddhist Magic,
  • and more.
Ingram shares his encounters with demons [shapeshifting creatures of Buddhist cosmology], astral entities, mythical beings, and entering into magical combat with angry magicians who had cursed him.

Ingram also critiques the modern mindfulness movement for its suppression of information about the magical aspects (iddhis, Sanskrit siddhis) of its own tradition and gives advice on ethics and the accumulation of psychic powers. … guruviking.com/ep68-daniel...

Scientific Truth of Psychic Phenomena

Dr. Dean Radin (amazon.com, 6/30/09); Pat Macpherson, Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
The Conscious Universe: The Scientific Truth of Psychic Phenomena
(Dr. Dean Radin, Ph.D.) This myth-shattering book explains the scientific evidence for the truth of psychic phenomena, uniting the teachings of mystics, the theories of quantum physics, and the latest in high-tech experiments.

With painstaking research and deft, engaging prose, Dr. Radin dispels the misinformation and superstition that have clouded the understanding of scientists and laypeople alike concerning a host of fascinating oddities.
  • Psychokinesis,
  • remote viewing,
  • prayer,
  • jinxes,
  • and more.
All are real, all have been scientifically proven, and the proof is in this book. Dr. Radin draws from his own work at Princeton University, Stanford Research Institute, and Fortune 500 companies, as well as his research for the U.S. government, to demonstrate the surprising extent to which the truth of psi has already been tacitly acknowledged and exploited.

The Conscious Universe also sifts the data for tantalizing hints of how mind and matter are linked. Finally, Dr. Radin takes a bold look ahead, to the inevitable social, economic, academic, and spiritual consequences of the mass realization that mind and matter can influence each other without having physical contact. Meditation lovebirds travel to Thailand, Burma

The Final Vlog? What happened in Thailand and Burma
(Deep Mindfulness) Mindful Living Vlog_007, April 19, 2018. This is our most ambitious vlog yet. It covers what happened on our trip to Thailand and Burma (now called Myanmar by the military dictatorship). And we address a few big questions.
The practice is AWARENESS. Be aware that you're aware, the awareness of awareness. There are sights, sounds, smells, sensations, and savorings of the senses. And there's awareness of these, which is to say awareness that we are aware. While aware we watch for four things accompanying awareness of whatever kind in whatever situation:
  1. Clinging (like)
  2. Averting (dislike)
  3. Unconsciousness (don't know)
  4. Equanimity (alert and calm)

Ajahn Brahm: I "want" to get enlightened

Ajahn Brahmavamso, Buddhist Society of Victoria, 5/29/21; Dhr. Seven (ed.), Wisdom Quarterly

Ajahn Brahm: I want to get enlightened
(BSV Dhamma Talks) Streamed live on May 29, 2021. For thousands of years lots of people have been yearning to awaken, to become enlightened, practicing hard to do so.

They are practicing very diligently, regularly doing many hours of meditation, listening to lots of Dharma talks. Yet, they still want to enjoy the comforts of life. Some are following monks who are “purported” to be enlightened! They thought they are very wise, having gotten rid of the “self,” would like to help people, but thinking that they don’t have sufficient means to do so, as they have to keep some for themselves and their family to maintain their comfortable lifestyle. Yet, we can see that they often portray actions of conceit, ill will, greed, anger, and so on.

What does it mean to be an enlightened being? Are there several levels of enlightenment that lay practitioners can aspire to? What is/are the path(s) and signposts along the Dharma path signaling that we are on the right track toward eventual enlightenment one day or in some future lifetime?

Before I sign off, there are a few quick reminders. First, remember that the fundraiser for Sanditthika Meditation Community is now live. I am delighted to announce that we are already nearly one third of the way to reaching our 30,000 euro target!

Thanks so much to all who have already offered such generous support. It has been an exciting week for me and the whole Sanditthika Team, seeing so many people get behind the vision for the community to grow and thrive.

If you haven't done so already, please consider making a donation. If you are unable to support us financially, you can also support the cause by spreading the word far and wide. Donate/Share

Out today is my new YouTube video on the Four Right Efforts. I will be recording more of these videos over the summer, so if you have any requests for topics you'd like me to cover, please let me know. Watch

On Tuesday, July 12th, there will be a group interview. These online sessions offer us the chance to ask questions about your own meditation practice and to listen and learn from the questions of others. These group sessions are open to everyone and are also a good option if you are having difficulty booking a one-on-one Zoom appointment with me.

Book your place at the group interviews up to a month in advance here. Also live from the UK, 8:00-10:00 pm, I will be hosting the next Full Moon Gathering. These gatherings are a great opportunity to come together to deepen our connections to the Dhamma and to each other.

This month's gathering will be on the topic of mobile cell phones -- a topic that seems to influence us all in various powerful ways. Everyone is welcome!

You can book your place at the gathering here. Although my availability on Zoom is somewhat reduced over the coming months, I will still be making some time available most weekdays.

You can book your regular one-on-one Zoom appointments with me up to two weeks in advance here. As ever, all of my work is given on a donation basis. For information about some ways in which you can support my work, take a look here.

With much metta and gratitude,

Beth Upton
