(iHeart.com, edited by WQ, Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021) Today lawmakers convened for a joint session of Congress to count electoral votes from the most recent presidential election.

The electors officially cast their votes on Dec. 14th after Joe Biden allegedly defeated Pres. Trump by 306-232 on Nov. 4th, 2020.

In most years Congress certifies the results without fanfare or much of an issue. But this year some Republican lawmakers (like Ted Cruz) vowed to contest the results in several swing states that Biden may have lost, including Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.

Republicans want to challenge the results in Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin as well.

At least a dozen Republicans in the House of Representatives filed objections to the certification to support Josh Hawley in the Senate, and at least 11 other Republicans have said they will vote in favor of the objections unless lawmakers agree to conduct a ten-day audit to review the votes.

If the objection is filed, the Senate and House will meet separately [to shelter in place wearing gas masks] and discuss the challenge for up to two hours before voting on whether to sustain the objection.

The Republicans appear unlikely to have enough votes to stop Biden and Kam Harris from being certified as the winners of the election, but V.P. Pence is presiding over the kangaroo court alongside Dem. Nancy Pelosi. More
