Walking Stick Yoga, Los Angeles hike (12/19)

The stick or danda is for effort and ease.
Dr. Lori Marsh is coming out with a new little book with instillmindfulness.org on the East Coast called Walking Stick Yoga -- using hiking poles to hike and get into a series of yoga poses.

Dharma Buddhist Meditation will hike to the beautiful Los Angeles mystery that is the Bridge to Nowhere, do yoga, meditate, snack, and break the ice-olation.

Where is Los Angeles' Bridge to Nowhere?
Need a cool pair of hiking poles? We recommend some from montemlife.com/ref/instill, but any will do, even sturdy sticks along the path.

Social distancing, fun masks, no kissing, and bring a water bottle. The hike is fairly easy but runs along a river, and we may see some rams, trout, and deer. Carpool, due to limited parking at trailhead, and make sure to get confirmation of your spot. Space is limited!

Walking Stick Yoga: Danda Pada
Whether you have a regular practice or this is your first inquiry into yoga, by reading this book you have the potential to embark on a new lifestyle habit.

Yoga postures should be stable, held for an extended period, and share the twin qualities of effort and effortlessness – initial striving followed by relaxing into them.

Using poles in practice allows us to bring these positive qualities into each posture. Balance is immediately present, and the ease that results allows us to relax. Proceeds benefit InStill Mindfulness Studio.
