(Asangoham) Vajrāyāna Buddhism, also known as Tantric Buddhism or Esoteric Buddhism, first developed in proto-India and later spread to China, Tibet, Nepal, and Bhutan.

Vajrāyāna Buddhism was first introduced to Tibet in the 8th century AD.
This makes it the last school of Buddhism to spread beyond India.
The main figure responsible for the introduction and establishment of Buddhism in Tibet was the Indian master Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche.
Padmasambhava arrived in Tibet in the 8th century at the invitation of the Tibetan King Trisong Detsen.
Padmasambhava spread the teachings of [Vedic Brahmanism-infused] Vajrāyāna Buddhism throughout Tibet, and it has been the dominant form of Buddhism in the region ever since.

Vajrāyāna Buddhism has its roots in Mahāyāna Buddhism.
Vajrāyāna, however, introduces the use of visualization, mantra, and ritual practices to achieve enlightenment in a single lifetime.
Vajrāyāna Buddhism uses visualization, or the creation of mental images of deities, mandalas, and other spiritual symbols, to access the wisdom and power of the deity.
This is known as deity yoga, and it is one of the main practices of Vajrāyāna Buddhism.
One main reason that this became a primary practice of Vajrāyāna Buddhism is because of the [indigenous] Bön religion, which existed in Tibet long before Buddhism arrived.
The Importance of Bön to Vajrāyāna Buddhism

Bön [animism, shamanism, black magic] is a religion that has been practiced in Tibet for over a millennium.
Today, it exists alongside Vajrāyāna Buddhism, and many of its beliefs and practices have been incorporated into Vajrāyāna.
Bön makes use of rituals and magic to contact and access the power of deities and spirits.
Bön believes in a spiritual dimension known as the dngos-po or "pure realm." This realm is believed to be inhabited by enlightened beings who have achieved spiritual liberation [or at least the Hindu version of it].
It is believed that by connecting with these enlightened beings through visualization and meditation, they can gain access to the wisdom and blessings of the pure realm.

Cannabis abuse trends much higher in people who experienced childhood trauma
Artificial strains: too much THC, too little CBD
Young people are at a heightened risk of problematic adolescent cannabis [marijuana] abuse when they experience childhood trauma.
This is particularly true for kids who experience trauma between the ages 1 through 12.
Strikingly, these damaging experiences can range from witnessing parental drug misuse to enduring various forms of abuse.
Dr. Lindsey Hines, a psychologist at the University of Bath specializing in adolescent mental health, led this insightful research.
[And before him, Dr. Gabor Mate has been saying this for five decades, having worked with addicts and harm-reduction in Canada and now in the United States.]
The researchers considered a wide array of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) that could influence future cannabis use.
The researchers examined factors such as physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.

The study also focused on emotional neglect and parental substance use. Lastly, they studied instances of parental violence, mental health struggles, and even criminal convictions.
The researchers closely studied these childhood misfortunes and compared them with the frequency of cannabis use.
The participants fell between the ages of 13 to 24.
The data was self-reported. The participants ranged from individuals who never used cannabis to those who regularly used it during their teen years.
Definitive link between cannabis abuse and childhood trauma
The findings are concerning. Individuals who went through four or more ACEs were over twice as likely to frequently use cannabis in their teenage years.
Their counterparts experienced much fewer ACEs.
Teenagers with a history of parents abusing intoxicants such as alcohol were most likely to end up as regular cannabis users, as were those whose parents struggled with mental health problems. More

The "dark" and "divine" side of kundalini yoga
(Asangoham) The term yoga has its roots in the Sanskrit word yuj, which means "to yoke together, to
conjoin."
Hence, yoga implies a spiritual union of the individual consciousness with the all-pervading,
universal consciousness, or Brahman (Ultimate Reality behind all maya or "illusion"), according to the Upanishads.
In this way,
yoga is the empirical part of religion, says Gopi Krishna in his work, Kundalini: The Secret of
Yoga (3).
Of all the different yoga traditions and schools that developed in ancient Vedic times,
Kundalini Yoga [the Hindu not Sikh version] is considered to be the most powerful and therefore the most dangerous.
It is
part of the Shaiva Tantra system.
Kundalini is considered to be a form of sacred feminine
energy that lies dormant at the base of the human spine, called the muladhara, coiled like a serpent.
This is pure, formless energy which has immense potential if awakened. Shaiva Tantra calls
this "energy" or shakti, Mother Divine, or the formless aspect of the Goddess.
Swami Satyananda Saraswathi, a great master of kundalini yoga and author of
Kundalini Tantra says that although one may be generally aware of what yoga is, one requires some kind of awareness of what tantra is in order to appreciate the mysterious working of
kundalini yoga.
Tantra says that the range of mental experience can be broadened. With the help of the
senses, our mind can have an experience based on an object. There can be an experience
within the framework of time, space, and object. But there can also be an experience beyond
the framework of time, space, and object.
The second form of experience can happen when
the present mind expands beyond its given definitions and borders. When this experience
occurs, energy is released from oneself (Saraswati 6).
This concept is the tantric basis of kundalini yoga.
The dormant kundalini energy, when awakened, will rise in a spiraling motion up
through different energy nexus points in the body called chakras.
The literal meaning of chakra is
"circle" or "wheel," but in the context of kundalini tantra, it also connotes a vortex-like motion.
There are
many chakras in a human body, but the principal ones within the body are seven. And the highest
one, the seventh, is at the crown of the head.
The mind of a worldly person with base desires and passions moves in the muladhara
and svadhishthanachakras or energy centers situated near the anus and the reproductive organs respectively.
If one’s mind becomes purified, the mind rises to the manipura chakra, or the center
in the navel, and experiences some power and joy.
If the mind becomes more purified, it rises to the anahata chakra, or the center in the
heart, experiences bliss, and visualizes the effulgent form of the ishta devata or the "tutelary
deity."
When the mind is highly purified, when meditation and devotion become intense
and profound, the mind rises to visuddha chakra, or the center in the throat, and experiences
more and more powers and bliss.
Even when the mind has reached this center, there is a
possibility for it to come down to the lower centers.
