What psychedelic did ancient Greeks use?

Of course the ancients used drugs
The Chemical Muse: Drug Use and the Roots of Western Civilization
by Dr. D. C. Ammon Hillman has 4.6 out of 5 stars (with 146 ratings).

"The last wild frontier of classical studies" (The Times UK).

The Chemical Muse uncovers decades of misdirection and a coverup to reveal the history of widespread drug use in ancient Rome and Greece.

In the city-states that gave birth to Western civilization, drugs were an everyday element of a free society.

Often, they were not just available but vitally necessary for use in medicine, spiritual-religious ceremonies, and war campaigns.

Their proponents and users existed in all classes, from common soldiers to emperors. Citing examples in myths, medicine, and literature, Dr. Hillman, Ph.D., shows how drugs have influenced and inspired the artists, philosophers, and even politicians whose ideas have formed the basis for civilization as we know it.

Many of these ancient texts may seem well-known, but Dr. Hillman shows how timid, prudish translations have left scholars and readers in the dark about the reality of drug use in the Classical world.

Dr. Hillman's argument is not simply "pro-drug." Instead, he appeals to intellectual honesty to acknowledge the use of drugs in ancient societies despite today's conflicting social mores.

In the modern world, where academia and university life are often politically charged, The Chemical Muse offers a unique and long overdue perspective on the contentious topic of drug use and freedom of thought. More

Awakening (liberating insight) is normal

What if the ego (self, soul) were just to melt and disappear for a moment? Would we let go?

Awakening is totally normal, Dude. Don't go looking for special magic experiences
Wake up, Zen meditators, or it's the paddle!
(The Theory of Samsara) Premiered Nov. 27, 2025: 🧘‍♂️ Why do we all so easily fall into "spiritual delusion"? Why do we chase psychedelic highs, promises of supernatural powers, or “special” experiences instead of understanding the ordinary, unchanging nature of consciousness [and related phenomena] itself?

This video dives more deeply into the mechanics of self-deception on the spiritual path
  • How craving fuels suffering,
  • Why Western culture’s addictions make it worse,
  • Why meditators so often mistake mental fabrications for awakening.
Let's explore the Buddha’s actual teaching:
  • Craving is the root of suffering
  • Consciousness is ordinary, not something to be manufactured
  • Awakening can’t be given to us by a teacher
  • Psychedelic trips are NOT enlightenment
  • Pride, jealousy, and other delusions and fabricated identities destroy the Path
  • True realization begins with a stable, uncontrived mind.

Whether we practice Zen (jhana), Mahamudra ("great seal"), Vipassana (insight meditation), or Dzogchen (choiceless awareness), the message is the same: Stop looking for the extraordinary.

Instead, recognize the nature of mind as it is: SUCHNESS, ordinary mind — nothing to adopt, nothing to abandon.

If we want to avoid spiritual self-sabotage and cultivate a genuine path toward awakening, this is for us. Check out ultimatemeaning.org for more information.

MK-Ultra is real: victims are suing

MK-Ultra LSD doc (wiki)
MK-Ultra
[a], which stands for "mind control," was a secret, illegal CIA human experimentation program. It was designed and undertaken by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) allegedly to develop procedures and identify hallucinogenic drugs that could be used during interrogations to weaken individuals and force confessions through brainwashing and psychological torture [1].

Dr. Donald Ewen Cameron was just doing his human research (without informed consent), using humans like lab rats in a NAZI detention camp.

The term MKUltra is a CIA cryptonym: "MK" is an arbitrary prefix standing for the Office of Technical Service and "Ultra" is an arbitrary word out of a dictionary used to name this project.

The program has been widely condemned as a violation of individual rights and an example of the CIA's abuse of power, with critics highlighting its disregard for consent and its corrosive impact on democratic principles [2]. More

Are human experimentation activities continuing? Of course they are. Caveat emptor.

Burning Man Day 4: Orgy Dome, mud

Art, creativity, and awe - it's all here.
What really happens at Burning Man? Everything's free, life lived by principles, not a music festival but rather a festival of lights and lifestyle, standup comedy, Orgy Dome, acid (LSD) trip, the afterglow, Buddhist insight: "Desire what you don't have a little less, desire more what you do have." Put the phone away. Ride a bike. Stare at the sky and into different dimensions that are just as far away as the doors of the perception. Mario Adrion explains, concluding, "Namaste, b*tches."

24 hours at Burning Man 2025 – Daily Playa Survival Vlog

(Escaping Normal Life) Aug. 28, 2025: In this daily playa survival vlog, I go inside the heart of Black Rock City – where 70,000 people come together in the Nevada desert to create the most unbelievable temporary city on Earth.

🌵✨ Yes, it's muddy and messy, but that doesn’t stop the fun, the phenomenal art, massive sound camps, live music, free spa treatments, caked mud, no showers, and unbelievable energy all around.

Beyond the parties, Burning Man is also a place for self-growth, spirituality, and community – with religious temples, AA meetings, weddings, families, kids, and powerful moments of togetherness that make this city feel like home.

Too often, people focus only on the negatives, but the truth is Burning Man is a functioning city full of creativity, connection, and human spirit. Join me for 24 hours of survival, dust, mud, art, music, and magic at Burning Man 2025! Venmo: venmo.com/u/escaping_normal_life

Roadtrip: Death Valley to Burning Man

(Wonderhussy) Taking adventure to a new level by visiting the most hedonistic city in Nevada. Yes, wilder than Pahrump, more lit up than Las Vegas, more secretive than Area 51 (Groom Lake), where there's no money -- and none needed because it has evolved into a gifting culture beyond barter to selfless giving of services, experiences, food, drink, and fun! It takes dana (India's ancient practice of cultural spiritual generosity) to a modern place with an enlightened outlook to how life can be.
  • [When? Just as soon as the Powers That Be step out of the way and release all of the free energy technology that has been discovered, developed, and attempted to be patented before being disappeared and stored somewhere in the Smithsonian Institution and/or the U.S. Patent Office storage units as it will upset the entire economic model personally grinding us down now as a planet when other planets, even local neighbors have evolved beyond this. Nicola Tesla was downloaded such technology by otherworldly beings interested in helping us with that evolution, but the covert agencies stepped in, weaponized it, and kept it all under wraps. Tesla discovered more and made working models of his visions than we have ever been allowed to yet see. Eventually it will come out.]

Summer of Love + Road to Kathmandu (travel)

Road to Kathmandu, 1977 (full version)
(mtdd1948) June 15, 2017: India's famed Taj Mahal is an entirely Islamic architectural masterpiece created by Muslims in a land of rock-cut Buddhist marvels and countless Hindu temples? Let's take an overland "magic bus" trip from stuffy London, England, to wild Kathmandu, Nepal.

1967: The Summer of Love

(Free Documentary - History) April 19, 2024: In 1967 an expressive, colorful musical force painted a backdrop of love, social change, fashion, turmoil, and war.

Son, drop your gun and come back home to us!
The world remembers the "Summer of Love" in 1967 [which we always thought took place in '69] as one of those moments when a unique and creative explosion of rock music and popular culture arrived in the UK and US.

This documentary is driven by the soundtrack of the time, which kept the imperial American troops company as they massacred millions of Buddhists in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, powered the American Anti-War and Civil Rights movements, which opened the hearts and minds of Baby Boomers who had matured into hope-filled teens.

This special celebrates 1967 as a famous year full of music and change.  “Stick a flower in your hair [or a soldier's rifle at Kent State] and remember that you are Us not Them.”

The most intense psychedelic on earth...and Connor takes it at music festivals
(Psyched Substance) This video has been created for safety and harm reduction. We want to both show what the reality of modern music festivals is like and sprinkle as much safety advice throughout the conversations as we can. It is also nice to showcase the beautiful individuals who attend to make these festivals happen. Summer of Love's Fantasy Fair: 1st fest

1967 Fantasy Fair and Magic Mountain Music Festival (home movie)
The Summer of Love of 1967 (wiki)
(Digitalbondo) The Summer of Love was 50 years ago, way back in 1967. The KFRC Fantasy Fair and Magic Mountain Music Festival ran from June 10th to the 11th, 1967. Here are home movies (from a kind of recording time machine) of The Seeds, Country Joe and the Fish, The Jefferson Airplane, and The Byrds by John Cuniberti. Music by The Byrds.

Why is summer for love? - It's the outfits.
June 10, 1967, was an important day for the Summer of Love and for music history.

Exactly one week later than its originally scheduled date (inclement weather the previous weekend having postponed it for a week), the Fantasy Fair and Magic Mountain Music Festival kicked off on Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, next to San Francisco.

Over two days (June 10-11, 1967), tens of thousands of music fans (many of the shiny hippies) would participate in the first rock festival in American history.

While the Monterey Pop Festival is often credited with being the first rock music festival in history, in fact it was the “Fantasy Fair” that deserves the honor.

Led by KFRC, an AM radio station, the festival featured the Doors, Jefferson Airplane, the Byrds, Sons of Champlin, and many other bands that were gaining notice throughout California and beyond.

Woodstock '69 photos were kept secret

German Nazi scientists and engineers built the "Folk's Wagon" for the people (folks).
Everyone has something to hide...except me and my monkey. Where the Beatles at?

These photos were kept hidden for a reason
I'm in another dimension.
(Golden Rewind) Oct. 22, 2024: These Woodstock photos were kept hidden for a reason. They reveal a lot about the iconic music and arts festival might just shock viewers.

This video dives into newly unveiled images and the untold stories behind the historic event 55 years ago.

.
Man, are you tripping? - I'm tripping balls, Man.
On August 15th, 1969, over 400,000 people gathered at a farm in Bethel, New York, for the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, a festival that symbolized the spirit of the 1960s.

Photographer Baron Wolman was there to document the event, capturing unseen moments of this cultural phenomenon.

It was summer and I wanted demo for peace.
In June 2014, nearly half a century later, some of his hidden photographs were finally revealed in a London photographic exhibition.

Stay tuned to uncover the untold stories behind these rare photos and the festival that changed a generation.

Entrance was free for last minute ticket shoppers. It was copeacetic and totally far out.
There was lots of free food (hippie grub) and warm vibes serving it. Power to the people.
I can't see. Can you tell them to move their heads? - Just tune in, turn on, and drop out, Man.
