Happy Chinese New Year (of the Horse)

The massive estate is shaped like a bodhi leaf.
We spent the day at the largest Chinese New Year celebration in the United States (roughly the size of Chuang Yen Monastery in Carmel, Upstate New York). Hsi Lai (pronounced \she lie\, which means "Going West") Temple had it all, including Aztec dancers (
Danza Aztecaperhaps representing Siberian Asians cum Native Americans who are mostly local Mexicans) topping off a cultural show of martial arts demonstrations, dances, dragons, and a big central horse representing the year to come.

The lines were out the door but moving fast.
The all-you-can-eat vegan buffet was great (daily, only $10) with noodles, veggies, sweet and sour, tofu, lotus roots, soup, tea, fruit, and fried Indian dharma wheels. The rare rainstorm in Los Angeles cleared the skies as the sun broke through for the outdoor festivities.

We have never seen the temple, said to be the largest in the Western Hemisphere, this crowded. Parking was only found blocks away, and buses were bringing in celebrants. Everyone had their phones out, filming the spectacle. And even the monastics were clapping and enjoying themselves.

Everyone was immersed in Chinese culture uniquely blending with this part of Mexico. (Yes, California is part of Mexico or was until our empire stole it from Spain's empire). Perhaps 20,000 well-wishers passed through the gates throughout the day. Festivities continue for two weeks.

After Burning Man: 'It was better next year'

Burning Man 2025: It Was Better Next Year

So what if I became a MAGA Trump Republican
(Wonderhussy Adventures) Sept. 3, 2025: Welcome to Wonderhussy's Adventure #879. The date this adventure began was August 21, 2025, for the road trip.

I'm here to worship Luna the Moon
By now we’ve seen the news footage of the terrible storms that destroyed much of Burning Man 2025 — including, infamously, the beloved Orgy Dome [not to mention the murder, electrocution, and other disasters]! But was the event a total sh💩tshow?
Come with me, Wonderhussy, and find out what it was REALLY like at the Hair of the Dog in Black Rock City, Nevada, this year.

It's time to get vaginal with Wonder Hussy, Elon!

Murder at Burning Man? Blood on Day 7

Burning Man horror: Man found dead in pool of blood as festivalgoers watch effigy torched

(ETimes) Sept. 1, 2025: BLACK ROCK DESERT. A festivalgoer was found dead in a gruesome scene at Burning Man in Nevada, just as the iconic human-shaped effigy was set ablaze on Saturday night. Authorities are investigating the death as a homicide (murder), with deputies, BLM rangers, and Black Rock Rangers securing the area while interviewing attendees. The identity of the deceased has not yet been revealed. Burning Man organizers are cooperating fully, urging festivalgoers not to interfere as the investigation continues in this shocking desert tragedy.

Burning Man 2025 mind-blowing night life
(Breeze Offroad) Sept. 1, 2025: BLACK ROCK CITY. 🔥 Burning Man is a week-long, radically creative gathering held annually in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. It’s not a typical festival—but rather a temporary dust metropolis called Black Rock City, built from scratch by tens of thousands of participants who co-create everything from experiences to massive art installations to themed camps and wild mutant vehicles. The event centers around radical self-expression, community, and self-reliance, with no commercial transactions (except ice and coffee). It culminates in the symbolic burning of a towering wooden effigy known as “The Man,” a ritual that gives the event its name, and the central temple on the closing night. #burningmanfestival #burningman

Burning Man Day 5, going strong, silent

Burning Man at night 2025!

(Breeze Offroad) Aug. 29, 2025: BLACK ROCK CITY, Nevada - 🔥 Burning Man is a week-long, radically creative gathering held annually in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. It’s not a music festival, not a trade show, and definitely not an average [basic b*tch] party. Well, then, what is it? —It’s a temporary city built from scratch by tens of thousands of active and creative participants who come to share art, ideas, and experiences. #burningman2025 #burningmanfestival #blackrockcity

  • Our de facto correspondent (Escaping Normal Life) has gone silent. Are we worried? No. Maybe he's having a near death experience or something life-altering. The show must go on. Readers want to know, so here's the update:
Burning Man has an "Orgy Dome"?
BURNING MAN 2025 ORGY DOME: On August 27, 2025, it was revealed that the desert festival's "Orgy Dome," which had been a popular and active free love party scene at the festival since 2003, had collapsed due to sudden and very strong desert winds [61 ("Burning Man's Orgy Dome has been destroyed")]. It was afterwards announced that the sex tents would be restored [62]. Gates also closed on different occasions due to bad weather, with at least one festival attendee being electrocuted [63]. More

Burning Man Day 4: Orgy Dome, mud

Art, creativity, and awe - it's all here.
What really happens at Burning Man? Everything's free, life lived by principles, not a music festival but rather a festival of lights and lifestyle, standup comedy, Orgy Dome, acid (LSD) trip, the afterglow, Buddhist insight: "Desire what you don't have a little less, desire more what you do have." Put the phone away. Ride a bike. Stare at the sky and into different dimensions that are just as far away as the doors of the perception. Mario Adrion explains, concluding, "Namaste, b*tches."

24 hours at Burning Man 2025 – Daily Playa Survival Vlog

(Escaping Normal Life) Aug. 28, 2025: In this daily playa survival vlog, I go inside the heart of Black Rock City – where 70,000 people come together in the Nevada desert to create the most unbelievable temporary city on Earth.

🌵✨ Yes, it's muddy and messy, but that doesn’t stop the fun, the phenomenal art, massive sound camps, live music, free spa treatments, caked mud, no showers, and unbelievable energy all around.

Beyond the parties, Burning Man is also a place for self-growth, spirituality, and community – with religious temples, AA meetings, weddings, families, kids, and powerful moments of togetherness that make this city feel like home.

Too often, people focus only on the negatives, but the truth is Burning Man is a functioning city full of creativity, connection, and human spirit. Join me for 24 hours of survival, dust, mud, art, music, and magic at Burning Man 2025! Venmo: venmo.com/u/escaping_normal_life

(Scotty Finds Adventure) I said yes to everything at Burning Man

Burning Man 2025 Daily Vlog: Surviving the Playa, One Day at a Time

(Escaping Normal Life) Aug. 26, 2025: Step into the heart of Burning Man 2025 with my daily vlog series, where I document what it’s really like to survive on the playa [Black Rock City's ancient beachfront]—dust, art, chaos, and all.

From battling whiteout sandstorms and extreme heat to exploring mind-blowing art installations and wild camps, this vlog gives a raw, unfiltered look at life in Black Rock City.

Whether one is a first-timer preparing for a journey or just curious about the Burning Man experience, see how I handle the challenges of dust storms, food, de-hydration, sand camping, and staying safe while also diving into the magic of this mystical [sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll] event.

LA Fire Trauma Workshop (2/24)

WHAT HAPPENED?
Info for FREE event for emotions
Twenty-four participants made it out, all but three of them females, mostly older, wealthy ladies living high in Altadena. Not everyone lost a home or car but were forced to evacuate, see their neighborhood destroyed, and are having to deal with the rebuilding of community and detoxing the area, depending on the EPA to remediate the land in the next 12 months. Everyone was traumatized in one way or another. Entering the stage area at Throop UU Church from the rear, avoiding the pews or main area used for Sunday services, we found yoga mats, sleeping bags, blankets and pillows for all. We set down our things, picked up a bound journal, and formed a circle of chairs for introductions. Sadly, the center of the event, Dr. Aimon Kopera, could not make it due to a family illness. Her facilitators also bailed on Thursday, leaving Dr. O'Connor with a tough choice: reschedule, cancel, or push forward.

The only way through it is go in and emerge.
She could not bring herself to make changes, so she pulled in her sound bath team, a Pilates instructor from the Langham Spa Resort, and volunteers to pull it off. We then learned "circle breathing," taking in long or short breaths of the same length without pause. Then we were asked to lie down with eyes covered under warm blankets, focusing only on the breath. After emerging, we journaled and did art with the supplies provided. Then, taking a break, it was time for lunch, followed by a Pilates session and a lengthy sound bath with Vivian the acupuncturist coming around and applying essential oils on us. She then made another round with a dab on the third eye and a drink of flower essence. Finally, she came around with tuning forks and attuned us on various chakra points. Windchimes, a massive gong, Tibetan singing bowls and crystal bowls, and bells all fluttered, bringing us to the final sharing circle, where we formed a pro-Altadena allegiance or association so everyone could stay in touch, share information, and invite each other on nature walks now and in the future. Stay tuned for the next event at Dharma Buddhist Meditation (Foothills Meetup) and Dharma Buddhist Meditation (Urban Meetup) or Dharma Buddhist Meditation (Valley Meetup).

The Pyramid Code (Dr. Carmen Boulter)

The Pyramid Code (complete)
(bestphone lense) The Pyramid Code, a documentary series of five episodes, explores the pyramid fields and ancient temples in Egypt as well as ancient megalithic sites from around the world, looking for clues to matriarchal consciousness, ancient knowledge, and sophisticated technology in a Golden Age.

The series is based on the extensive research done on 23 trips to Egypt and 50 other countries around the world by Dr. Carmen Boulter in the Graduate Division of Educational Research at the University of Calgary.

The Pyramid Code features interviews with prominent scholars and authors in multidisciplinary fields: geology, physics, astrophysics, archeology, biological engineering, magnetic field theory, hieroglyphics, and Egyptology. The series explores penetrating questions:
  • Who were the ancients and what did they know?
  • Could the pyramids be much older than traditional Egyptology would have us believe?
  • Could it be that the ancients were more technologically advanced than we are today?
  • Why do we have so little understanding of the ancient Egyptians?
  • Are there still secrets hidden in plain sight?
  • Do new discoveries force the issue of establishing a new chronology?
  • Are there little-known sites that provide clues to a new understanding of our distant past?
  • Are we really the most advanced civilization to ever live on Earth?
The Egyptian pyramids have fascinated us for thousands of years. Who built them, how were they built, and why? Experts across Egypt are discovering new information that sheds light on the ancient Egyptians' pyramids and how they evolved.

One theory suggest that King Snefru's Bent Pyramid was not a mistake. Recent discoveries show how the pyramids evolved from [an Asian Buddhist stupa-like] mound of rocks and sand to flat, rectangular mastabas, to the pyramid shape, so famously exhibited in the Great pyramid of Khufu and beyond. Now the archeology is being taken a stage further with new technology.

This series shows how the next generation of archeologists is finally piecing together the secret pyramid code that might have been used by the Egyptians. Reviewer: LesLey-A.

Flooding hits Spain, many dead (BBC)

At least 72 158 people have been killed in Spain's rains and floods | BBC News

(BBC News) Oct. 30, 2024: [Though the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain,] at least 72 158 people are known to be dead in the south-east, where flash flooding has caused “enormous destruction.”

Spanish rescue teams are working to find those feared missing, but damage to infrastructure (permanent structure used in day-to-day living) has made some communities hard to access.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez promised residents in affected areas that they would not be abandoned and announced a three-day mourning period.
  • UPDATE: At least 158 people are now known to have died after flash floods hit parts of Spain, particularly devastating communities in Valencia. Almost all the deaths, 155, have been recorded in the region, with two more in Castilla-La Mancha and another, a British man, in Andalusia. Emergency teams are continuing to search for those missing and hundreds of soldiers have been deployed to Valencia to assist with the operation. More

There has also been criticism of the civil protection agency -- which is deployed during natural disasters -- as it did not issue an alert until 20:15 local time on Tuesday, when the flooding had already caused a great deal of damage.
