(Wonderhussy Adventures) Sept. 3, 2025: Welcome to Wonderhussy's Adventure #879. The date this adventure began was August 21, 2025, for the road trip.
I'm here to worship Luna the Moon
By now we’ve seen the news footage of the terrible storms that destroyed much of Burning Man 2025 — including, infamously, the beloved Orgy Dome [not to mention the murder, electrocution, and other disasters]! But was the event a total sh💩tshow?
Please consider helping the good people of Hair of the Dog buy new support poles and tarps to replace the ones damaged in the storm: gofundme.com/f/rebuild-ha... Check out my website: wonderhussy.com. Support the channel: wonderhussy.

Rumer Willis doesn't mind if you see her breastfeeding her baby, Lou. And her sister Scout doesn't mind if you see her breasts/nipples even when she's not. Rumer's trying to get our attention about the dangers of common TOXIC toilet paper. [Switch to a bidet ASAP.]
Until switching there's a softer, stronger, smarter choice. PlantPaper is one company's response to an industry and a [poor] hygienic practice in dire need of an update. [That's where the bidet saves the day, using pure water.]
When this company first began developing PlantPaper in 2016, it knew it wouldn’t be enough just to make a cleaner toilet paper; it had to be a better toilet paper—a toilet paper the creators of the company themselves would want to use—a trade-up, not a trade-off, a toilet paper without compromise.
[What to make it with since you don't seem to be getting off yer arse 'n gettin the message that a bidet is the way to go? Mmm, why not use material better than toxic wood pulp?]
Hey, what if we were to use bamboo?
Ah, I feel so much cleaner now.
The more bamboo is harvested, the faster it grows. A bamboo grove may be able to produce as much as 10 times more usable fiber for paper than a tree forest of equivalent size.
Bamboo stores up to 40% of its carbon underground, carbon that remains intact even when it’s harvested. [There's a better choice.] plantpaper.us
No one seems to have told the rest of the country, but where the sun sets (West Coast), the sun rose this morning to a new spring. Everything is green and sunny, cool and moist, and a person's thoughts lilt towards thoughts of
The Spring Equinox, also known as the vernal equinox, is one of the four solar festivals of the year. The equinox — which translates roughly in Latin to “equal night” — is when the sun sits vertically above the equator, making day and night equal across the planet.
The Spring Equinox officially marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, and there are celebrations around the world to usher in longer days and springtime. [This is the real traditional New Year's Day, when the Earth (Tierra, Gaia, Bhumi) renews herself in preparation for another cycle.]
In some cultures, this day also marks the beginning of the new year, which in Iranian (original Aryan) culture is called Nowruz. The Spring Equinox is a brilliant time for new beginnings [like maybe a nice spring cleaning], no matter how one celebrates on March 20th.
This is the best time to begin a regular meditation practice, graduating to walking meditation, mindfulness in nature, and deep stillness to see things as they really are.
An outfit just for practice helps.
Do the basics: Put on all white. Find a quiet spot apart from distractions. Use this spot over and over again. It becomes powerful. Set down a mat and cushion (a bundle of leaves or grass is enough to get the tailbone higher than the knees). Sit. Inhale deeply. Release. Do it again a few times, without forcing the air out. It's just about letting go completely, so completely that the body hangs as if held up by a clothing hanger, not stiff, not slack.
You're a baby in white, so go easy.
Straighter is more comfortable, even though it doesn't seem like it at first. Posture is important to attention. Bring (advert) the attention to the present moment, this moment, and to stay in just this moment, remain aware of the breath. Which breath? This breath, just the one happening now all by itself. Become the watcher (not the commenter, fixer, improver, slowdowner, or anything else), just the watcher. This is mindfulness -- clear awareness of the present without evaluation.
Whoa, what a trip! What was that? I want that again!
Set a time limit in advance and keep it. Even if it would be nice to go longer because it is going so well, know the time of rising. Even if it is going horribly with raving lunatic thoughts of a psychopath with lurid fantasies and wrath, lust and revenge, delusion and a lightshow, know the time of rising. The mind will thank you later.
Ten minutes is a good start time, slowly working up to an hourlong sit. That seems impossible now, but in time, whaddyaknow, it suddenly is possible. What changed? I'dunno. This practice is about persistence. It does itself and then there is no effort. The enemies of that are expectations, unsettled greed or desire for achieving something, and the Five Hindrances. They will come to hinder. They are already present. They can be overcome. But whether or not they have been overcome, persist. This is spring. This is the beginning. Have "beginner's mind" in place of the "monkey mind" that usually rules the cage. Smile. It helps.
Instructions are confusing because it's so simple.
It is easy to say that "meditation is NOT about thinking." That's clear. That's easy to see. Don't indulge thought; just let them be by turning your attention to this subtle breath that keeps changing. What is difficult to grasp is that "meditation is NOT about not-thinking." Not-thinking may happen. It doesn't matter. As that is not the goal, if it doesn't happen, it's okay. Giving attention to one object and bringing attention back and back again and again ("Begin again" as Sharon Salzberg says) is what is important.
Feed me, Phone-Momma! Feed me more!!
The mind like a petulant and insolent child will resist. Let it. Bring it back. Do not scold it or become upset. Let it be. Surrender completely to this moment, whatever is in this moment, not being moved to do anything no matter what the mind says it must do. See what happens. Could the mind be wrong no matter what it feels or demands or insists is true?
How did Siddhartha Gautama do it?
We'll never see things as they really are so long as we keep believing that we already are seeing them that way. We have never been seeing them that way. If we had, we'd awaken. We'd be enlightened, which is to say, Dependent Origination would make sense. And it doesn't, does it? (Hint: It's a practice, not a theory). That's a whole different kind of meditation called insight (vipassana) after getting good at this kind, which is called serenity (samatha). Don't jump ahead. Let it go. (If all else fails, sign up for a free 10-day Goenka retreat. Everyone should do at least one in life).

Sparkly things and fire at Burning Man 2024
(Commotion Camp) Sept. 2, 2024: Gorgeous weather was enjoyed this year at Burning Man 2024 for the 70,000+ Burners who made their way to the annual week-long, large-scale art event in the Nevada desert.
This year's Burning Man highlights include a surprise DJ set by Rufus Du Sol, a plane that shot flames and lasers, a magnificent art installation titled "Naga and the Captainess" [a naga in Buddhism, Jainism, and Hinduism being a sea serpent, reptilian, dragon], some new super creative art cars, and the always entertaining Burning Man fashion choices. They were spotted on the playa and throughout Black Rock City the whole time.
Songs: Alan Watts' voiceover, "Overthinker" by INZO, and "Magic Carpet Ride" (Moon and Sun Remix).
Sure, new Burners might make their escape into a long traffic jam all day long, creating a 14-lane traffic jam to the nearest paved road.
But experienced festivalgoers will remain to catch the symbolic burning of The Man. It's almost the whole point, which is really about community and creativity. This is just the capper.
Take your MOOP home and out of the desert.
There's a mania, a manic mode, that overtakes the crowd when the fire begins. Things explode, the desert glows, and everything spirals into a Bacchanalian feast. There's only this, and it's better to hit the road in the morning, after cleaning up and removing the MOOP ("matter out of place," aka trash). "Leave no trace" is a principle of this alternative festival.
Buddhist nun (Sayalay Aloka, Burma) followed footsteps of brothers who took monk mode.

If he succeeds, I'll become a Buddhist nun.
I tried to spend a week eating healthily, meditating skillfully, reading wisely, and sweating profusely by running 5K [as tapas or "burning off" the bad by austerity] every day, all while ditching television completely, giving up social media scrolling, and turning my back and not touching alcohol at all.
I failed, but that didn’t stop it from changing my life.
Health trends are 10 a penny on TikTok, from the genuinely dangerous Gallon of Water a Day for 30 Days trend to the brutal 75 Hard Challenge and the ever-popular 12-3-20. And guys are more likely to be influenced into giving extreme ones a go more than women, according to a recent study.
If only Doggone could write, we'd know all about it. He took a challenge with Ananda to "muscle" his way to meditation. Then he doesn't turn in his results write up.
I clearly am one of those gullible men. I wanted to throw myself headfirst into a new challenge. I've tried and failed any number of them. (Over lockdown, I stuck to the 100-pushup challenge for a little while).
But after hitting a bit of a slump at the start of the year, I wanted something that would jolt me out of it. I was exercising pretty regularly, but spending too long trapped in YouTube rabbit holes and not reading as much as I’d like. That’s where “monk mode” came in.
Going "monk mode" was far harder than I ever thought (iStock/Indy 100).
It was great living up at the Mt. Baldy Zen Center above LA as a Zen monk before music fame.

It’s a pretty far-reaching term one sees bandied across the internet from time to time, and it can encompass any number of different elements.
There are some challenges listed, including ditching caffeine, which I was afraid to do, considering I was only doing monk mode for a week and had absolutely no intention of giving up my addiction to coffee in the long run, so it didn't make sense.
But in essence, monk mode involves dramatically cutting down screen time by placing a ban on drains like social media and TV.
And it proved to be tough – tougher than I ever imagined it would be. The exercise part was by far the easiest part.
Monks East and West are different. Travel East.
I’m a regular runner anyway, and all it took was upping the level from three 5K runs a week to every day.
It was a bit of a blessing that I went into monk mode after a relatively heavy weekend, which had involved plenty of Guinness [a type of addictive gluten alcohol the use of which is rampant in Ireland and parts of Europe] during a trip to Twickenham, so the no drinking wasn’t much of a problem either.
The challenge taught me a lot about my habit for procrastinating, though. I don’t think of myself as a social media addict, but I found my thumb unthinkingly heading for the Instagram app – out of boredom more than anything else – and I kept having to stop myself. More
American Irish genius Dr. Patrick Flanagan, MD, Ph.D., was a kind of Nikola Tesla. In junior high school he invented a device that could detect missile launches (and possibly nuclear detonations) anywhere in the world. It was just a school project built with ordinary Radio Shack parts, totaling about US$5. Had he spent $20, it could have really been something. The powers that be (in the form of the FBI) showed up at his school to confiscate the device and steal the technology behind it. They seemed to have asked him if he had any other inventions or ideas. He did. One of them was a clear liquid made of H20, silica, and minerals to purify water. He called it Crystal Energy (Hunza water with Phi Sciences "Flanagan microclusters" for catalytic "wetter water." He talked about it to Lisa Garr on Pacifica Free Speech Radio KPFK's The Aware Showyears ago. What else did he invent?

Throughout the year, Yosemite National Park has several special events such as Junior Ranger Day, Earth Day (both in April), Apple Picking Day (mid August), and Yosemite Facelift (late September), where volunteers can just show up, no application needed.
For all special events and drop-in days, the park asks participants to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, appropriate gear for the weather, and to bring sun protection, water, and snacks.
The park provides tools and protective equipment.
All participants must sign a volunteer agreement [42 kb DOCX]. To fill out the form in advance, it will be posted with each special event or drop-in project as they are planned.
(It can also be signed on the day of the project on-site). Guardians must sign the form for participants under the age of 18. More
Chef, can you make us something like this Buddha's Delight out of tofu or green jackfruit?
Mushroom tastes like chicken, so make KFC
Why did the chicken cross the road?
(Sauce Stache) 9/15/19: I finally got my hands on "Chicken of the Woods," the mushroom that tastes just like poultry.
I can't believe how incredible this mushroom tastes, so I knew I had to make a plant-based KFC ("Kentucky Fried Chik-un"). I ordered mushrooms here (no sponsorship): oregonmushrooms.com.
Vegans love to love and be loved by chickens.
The goal of SauceStache is to continue trying something new to me and something different.
I find inspiration from The SauceSquad and my constant hunt on social media to see what food is being made around the world and how I can try to make it. Let's try to make some food while having fun.
