What was the hit song of the summer?

What'll be Song of Summer for 2026?

The new Ocean Way Festival of LA
Given the exigencies and erratic demands of the music industry nowadays, it is essential that one hit song be pushed to the top of the pop charts to rule each summer. A pop idol's shelf life could depend on it, or it might make an up and comer's career. This summer is tough because there's no obvious frontrunner. Taylor Swift? Yawn. Olivia Rodrigo has a new album, a new festival (Daisy Chain Fields), and everything she's done in the past has been so promising, but a runaway hit?

Who can win the music biz war battle by battle?
Not to our ears, not this time, not even "drop dead" or "the cure." Does it have to be a new song? Technically not because SAINt JHN had "Roses" due to a remix that went viral on TikTok or Instagram or my littler sister's cellphone and dance class. We used to be able to rely on Lana Del Rey to kick out the summer jams.

Editor's flashback pick: JFA "Beach Blanket Bongout"

Nude Poetry with Füde, NY to LA (8/7)

Now I'd like to bring out Leehee Bee, a hot piece of asymptote on our stage for the first time.
.
Reading my poetry is a new kind of "naked"
What performing poetry reveals about language, vulnerability, the fear of being (mis)understood

Could I stand in front of people fully nude?
A few months ago, I [Lihi Be] stood on a stage in New York City and performed slam poetry for the first time. The scene was hosted by Nuyorican Poets' Cafe at the Bowery Poetry Club, a small, legendary room where decades of poets have stepped up to a microphone and turned their inner worlds into sound.

It's the kind of place where language has history, where words have weight, where the air feels charged from voices that came before.

Enough with old white male writers! Sit down!

lihi be, the i in mi, this breath and body
I remember standing there
, waiting my turn, feeling my heart beating in my throat, which surprised me. I’ve spoken in front of rooms before. I’ve guided workshops, taught movement, led breathwork journeys where people open parts of themselves that are tender and alive.

Holding space for others doesn’t scare me. But this was different. This time, I wasn’t holding material space; I was the material. A poem I wrote alone earlier that morning was about to leave the page and hit the stage, entering a room full of strangers, not through dead ink, but through my living breath, my voice, my body.

Lihi Benisty poetry: Self
Until that moment, "poetry" was something I wrote, never something I performed. When I published my book, The Self, Reframed, it felt like a big step outward. Suddenly the poems were technically "public." Someone, anyone, could order the book, underline a passage, carry a piece of it into her own life.

Butt even then, there was still distance. The page protected me. Readers meet a poem alone. They can pause, reread, close the book, throw it in the garbage disposal, flip the switch, make acid-free wood pulp that washes out to sea... That meeting happens quietly, inside their own interior worlds.

Shame? We refuse to limit ourselves
Slam poetry is different: Spoken word removes the distance. When one performs a poem, there is no safe distance, no page between the room and the I performing. My breath carries my language. My nervous system becomes part of the delivery. My voice, my pauses, my trembling chest -- all of it becomes part of my poem.

In some ways, it feels easier to be naked than to perform one's own poem, in the woods, with someone you love, in front of Mother Nature, playing pretend it's Adam and Eve in a Sumerian garden.

Look, it's the real me!
I was in New York for a series of gatherings -- one of them a nude experience I was hosting with the Füde Experience: a roomful of naked people exploring embodiment, mindful presence, the simplicity of being in our bodies without the usual layers of social armor.

Standing naked in a room with others didn’t feel nearly as vulnerable as standing on this stage. In fact, being naked felt surprisingly simple. Source: a poem is a different kind of naked (seeds of the self)

Jewish man stabbed near Central Park

(Let's Be Clear with Ana Kasparian) Bibi Netanyahu declares shocking new demands of Gaza

(NBC News) Stabbings near New York City's Central Park

Who stabbed this person? Revenge!
A member of the richest group in the United States, the Jewish community, has been stabbed near Central Park in a possible hate crime. An Asian man was stabbed by the same suspect, now apprehended, but that's not important. A Jew was harmed, terrifying the community of Jews in the USA, who number not quite a million of the 341 million. But demographers, Mossad intelligence, CIA cubicle workers, and pricey PR firms are trying to find ways to fluff that number as much as possible by including any and every one that could possibly be the slightest bit related to the group. While there are no recruitment or religious conversion plans afoot to get people to join this exclusive and insular group, the public numbers will be managed to obscure their miniscule size as percentage of the population and disproportionate representation in politics, university admissions and faculty positions, high finance, Hollywood and the entertainment arts, as well as those surrounding and connected to accused and convicted sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Donald Trump.

Thousands demonstrate to save Kyiv

Demographics the most important thing

The USA has about 4% of the world's population, yet it is the third most populous country in the world. It is only smaller than India and China.

It is also the most populous nation in the Americas (and there are lots of Americas up and down the continent from South to Central to Meso to North and beyond all the way to the Pole. The USA also has the largest population in the Western Hemisphere.

The estimated population of the USA is 341,784,857 (three hundred and forty-two million in round numbers) as of July 1, 2025, according to the U.S. Census Bureau [1].

The country's population grew by 1.8 million (0.5%) between 2024 and 2025, due to a decline in net international migration [3]. The previous year, the Census Bureau had reported a population increase of 0.98% between 2023 and 2024 [26], near the global population growth rate of 1.03% [27].

These figures include the 50 states and the federal capital, Washington, [which is actually a district of another country that preceded the official establishment of the USA, a place called Columbia, thus earning this special exclusion zone its own kind of Holy See status and the name "D.C."].

This number excludes the 3.6 million residents of five unincorporated U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands) as well as several minor uninhabited island possessions.

By several metrics, including racial and ethnic background, religious affiliation, and percentage of rural and urban divide, the state of Illinois is the most representative of the larger demography of the United States [28].

The population of the USA almost quadrupled during the 20th century, with an average growth rate of about 1.3% a year, from about 76 million in 1900 to 281 million in 2000 [29]. It is estimated to have reached the 200 million mark in 1967, and the 300 million mark on October 17, 2006 [29, 30].

Foreign-born immigration caused the U.S. population to continue its rapid increase, with this population doubling from almost 20 million in 1990 to over 45 million in 2015 [31], representing one-third of the population increase [32]. More

TrayLor Trash: TNT, Taylor 'n Travis marry

LIVE coverage from the AP (Ass' Press)
Look at me, everybody!!!
OMG! It's really happening! Nazi Princess TayTay Swift-Swift is marrying handsome, rugged, and rich Trav Kelce! America will never be the same! Take that, England, with your dumb royal weddings and bill balls. All patriotic Americans will yawn and be kept up late by illegal fireworks for the nuptials or some holiday tomorrow. Who can say?

All this banging scaring the pets, and Attention Whur's Tay and Trav (or as we've dubbed them "Tray and Lor" or "Trailer," trash Madison Square Garden and) suck all the oxygen out of the nation with their big, fat, Greek god wedding.

I win! I'm best! Everyone's jealous!
Not since Led Zeppelin trashed MSG to film their The Song Remains the Same live album has the venue seen so much recorded action.

Good luck and best wishes to the couple! Take some time off, Taylor! You should relax, not make music for a long time, spend your billions. Thanks for the $26 mil in write-off donations! The commoners will eat tonight and survive another day on this green earth. Thank you! Whatever your motive, it's good to give! Even a bad motive is somewhat counter-weighed by a good gift. Giving makes everyone richer, now the recipient, in time the giver.

What's her BEST song?

No, really, what's the poet trying to say?

Song dedication for the lovely bride!

What must ALL the girls think of Taylor?

TrayLor Trash Numerology: Gematria?
