A member of the richest group in the United States, the Jewish community, has been stabbed near Central Park in a possible hate crime. An Asian man was stabbed by the same suspect, now apprehended, but that's not important. A Jew was harmed, terrifying the community of Jews in the USA, who number not quite a million of the 341 million. But demographers, Mossad intelligence, CIA cubicle workers, and pricey PR firms are trying to find ways to fluff that number as much as possible by including any and every one that could possibly be the slightest bit related to the group. The USA has about 4% of the world's population, yet it is the third most populous country in the world. It is only smaller than India and China.

It is also the most populous nation in the Americas (and there are lots of Americas up and down the continent from South to Central to Meso to North and beyond all the way to the Pole. The USA also has the largest population in the Western Hemisphere.

The estimated population of the USA is 341,784,857 (three hundred and forty-two million in round numbers) as of July 1, 2025, according to the U.S. Census Bureau [1].

The country's population grew by 1.8 million (0.5%) between 2024 and 2025, due to a decline in net international migration [3]. The previous year, the Census Bureau had reported a population increase of 0.98% between 2023 and 2024 [26], near the global population growth rate of 1.03% [27].

These figures include the 50 states and the federal capital, Washington, [which is actually a district of another country that preceded the official establishment of the USA, a place called Columbia, thus earning this special exclusion zone its own kind of Holy See status and the name "D.C."].

This number excludes the 3.6 million residents of five unincorporated U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands) as well as several minor uninhabited island possessions.

By several metrics, including racial and ethnic background, religious affiliation, and percentage of rural and urban divide, the state of Illinois is the most representative of the larger demography of the United States [28].

The population of the USA almost quadrupled during the 20th century, with an average growth rate of about 1.3% a year, from about 76 million in 1900 to 281 million in 2000 [29]. It is estimated to have reached the 200 million mark in 1967, and the 300 million mark on October 17, 2006 [29, 30].

Foreign-born immigration caused the U.S. population to continue its rapid increase, with this population doubling from almost 20 million in 1990 to over 45 million in 2015 [31], representing one-third of the population increase [32]. More

El Mirador (which is Spanish for "The Lookout," "The Viewpoint," or "The Belvedere") is a large pre-Columbus Middle and Late Preclassic (1000 BC–250 AD) Maya settlement in Mesoamerica, located in the north of the modern department of El Petén, Guatemala.

It is part of the Mirador-Calakmul Karst Basin of northern Guatemala [1]. El Mirador is considered to be the most important complex of ancient cities from the Preclassic period.

1. the person who goes along with the stream;
2. the one who goes against the stream;
3. the one who is inwardly firm; and
4. the one who has crossed over and gone beyond, the [worthy one] who stands on high ground.

(1) “Who is the person who goes along with the stream? Here, one indulges in sensual pleasures and performs unskillful deeds (karma). This is called 'the person who goes along with the stream.'

Could I rise above and overcome ignorance?

(2) “Who is the person who goes against the stream? Here, one refrains from indulging in sensual pleasures, refrains from performing unskillful deeds. Even with pain and dejection, weeping with a tearful face, one lives the complete and purified spiritual life. This is called 'the person who goes against the stream.'

(3) “Who is the person who is inwardly firm? Here, with the utter destruction of the five lower fetters, some person is of spontaneous rebirth [in some superior world or other], due to attain final nirvana (nibbāna) there without ever returning from that world. This is called 'the person who is inwardly firm.'

Blissful and at ease

(4) “And who is the one who has crossed over and gone beyond, the noble one who stands on high ground? Here, with the destruction of the taints, some person has realized for oneself with direct knowledge, in this very life, the taintless liberation of mind, liberation by wisdom, and having entered in it, one dwells in it. This is called 'the person who has crossed over and gone beyond,' the noble person who stands on high ground.

“These, meditators, are the four kinds of persons found in the world.”

Those people who are unrestrained in [pursuing] sense pleasures,

not free of lust, indulging in sense pleasures here,

repeatedly coming back to rebirth and old age again,

immersed in craving, are “the ones who go along with the stream.”

Therefore, a wise person with mindfulness established,

not resorting to sense pleasures and unskillful deeds,

gives up sense pleasures even if it is painful to do so:

they call this person “one who goes against the stream.”

One who has abandoned five defilements,

a fulfilled trainee, unable to fall back,

attained to mind’s mastery, with faculties composed:

this person is called “one inwardly firm.”

One who has comprehended things high and low,

burned them up, so they are done and exist no more:

that sage who has lived the supreme spiritual life,

reached the end of the world (samsara), is called

“one who has gone beyond.”

Christians may imagine their Devil at war, killing, harming, maiming, and sending humans to the hells. But it isn't that way in Buddhism. Mara (the Destroyer) is sexy, a gentleman (shapeshifter), Mara Devaputra, more of a deluded Lucifer figure, imagining himself the Ruler of the Sensual Sphere.

In Buddhist cosmology, the universe is divided into three spheres or lokas (worlds), sections of the 31 Planes of Existence. The highest is the Immaterial Sphere (arupa loka), all mind, no form. The middle is the Fine Material Sphere (rupa loka). And the lowest is the Sensual Sphere (kama loka). Where would you, dear reader, imagine the Human World (manussa loka) is located?

We are, of course, smack dab in the middle of the lowest section, the Sensual Sphere, characterized by sense craving manifesting mostly as lust (accompanied by aversion/hate and rooted in delusion).

Mara is not interested in harming anyone. His goal is seduction and keeping everyone within his sphere, reborn in worlds below his plane at the top of the Sense Sphere heavens (superior physical worlds in space). It displeases him greatly if anyone escapes to be reborn in the superior heavens of the Fine Material Sphere.

Get the heck outta here, you wandering ascetic! - Behold, Mara, the Earth says I may stay.

It is probably unimaginable to him that there are even worlds beyond that, more subtle and sublime than the highest and most rarefied of the Fine Material planes.

While most of depicted as a "demon" (chief of the yakkhas or ogres), Mara has three very alluring daughters, Craving, Ennui, and Lust (aka Tanha, Arati, and Raga).

The Buddha-to-be was not swayed by deceptive lures.

In some accounts of the wander ascetic Siddhartha's enlightenment, it is said that the "demon" Māra did not send his three daughters to tempt. Instead, they came willingly after Māra's setback in his endeavor to eliminate the Bodhisatta's quest for enlightenment and liberation [16].

Mara's three daughters are identified as Taṇhā ("Craving" or "Thirst"), Arati ("Discontentment," a kind of "Aversion"), and Rāga ("Attachment" or "Passion") [15, 17].

For example, in the Samyutta Nikaya's section on Mara (the Māra Saṃyutta), Mara's three daughters are undressing in front of the Bodhisatta, but they fail to entice him.

They had come to him glittering with beauty

– Taṇhā, Arati, and Rāga –

But the Teacher swept them away then and there

As the wind, a fallen cotton tuft [18].

California has no weather to speak of. A cloud over Los Angeles is news because temps may dip under the 70s. Northern California is colder, but the state is famous for its sunny beaches and SoCal scenery. Today is different. Strange H20 has been condensing in the sky and falling onto the ground. No one knows how to drive in it, so expect crashes, spinouts, and traffic. (Great Day Houston) The word "Hispanic" encompasses a large group of people whose heritage includes roots from imperial Spain. Especially going south of the border, one soon realizes that it's not related to one color of skin, eyes, or hair.

The way Ana Saia looks throws some people off, but she's Hispanic and calls herself "The Redhead Latina." She shares her Mexican American heritage with over 3,000,000 followers on TikTok.

Her most popular videos include her blond Mexican mom. A so-called No sabo ("I don't know") kid is a child who comes from a Latin or Hispanic family yet speaks little to no Spanish. Because of this, s/he can sometimes be treated as an outsider in the culture.

Saia created a post explaining how to survive a family reunion as a No sabo kid. She grew up listening to Spanish being spoken at home in Las Vegas but continuously works to improve her Spanish skills to clean up that pesky Gringo accento or "English accent" many tend to have due to the culture clash.

As a social media personality, she is often faced with backlash and hateful comments, as if she were an impersonator. But she loves to turn a bad situation upside down. She is advocates against bullying and often finds these situations to be opportunities to help others deal with insecurities.
