(ABC7 News) Los Angeles is a former city in the country of Mexico, like so much of what is now the Southwestern United States of America, so we love Mexico's win! Mexico's actual name is not Mexico but the United Mexican States (Estados Unidos Mexicanos), and it seems we the USA stole the name from them. The U.S. may one day have to become the United American States or "West England" or "European Colony 14" or revert to its original name "Columbia" after the titular goddess (and before old Uncle Sam shoved her aside for the patriarchy's propaganda war campaign), as in "District of Columbia" for its capital (which is technically outside the country) Washington, D.C.
This party on Wilshire Blvd. (Miracle Mile) is a planning meeting for upcoming Disclosure Project: Dharma Buddhist Meditation Meetup activities and to celebrate Mexico's revolution against imperial European forces in the New World, as the "United Mexican States" (Estados Unidos Mexicanos) triumphed over a giant French army in Pueblo to secure a short-lived victory over imperialism before gaining eventual independence (celebrated on Sept. 16th as El Grito de Dolores ("The Cry of Dolores"), Mexico's actual "Independence Day" or Fourth of July equivalent is held).

Today, Nov. 1, is Dรญa de los Muertos. It’s a time when people celebrate the lives of those who've passed on -- a time to remember family members, close friends, pets, even strangers, perhaps all of humanity.
The Mexican American holiday holds a special place for many people as a way to grieve those who have died and keep their memory alive.
People usually celebrate with an ofrenda or offering altar that has photos of their loved ones, their favorite meals, orange marigolds, pan de muerto[bread for the dead, dead bread, soul cake offerings], sugar skull candies, and other items that have special meaning to those being remembered.

Joanne Pineda of Monterey Park (a small city in the San Gabriel Valley of LA County) has made a tradition of celebrating Dรญa de los Muertos with her family. She said she’ll always remember the time when her dad asked her mom to dance to Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon” in the living room.
“Thinking about it now really brings me tears because it just brought them so much joy. It brought them close together,” Pineda said. “For me to be there, to see that, how special it was to them I just think about it all the time.” More
