To save the remaining trees of Altadena
There is an organization that is currently doing something to save the remaining trees of Altadena, more than half of which were wiped out by the Eaton Fire. They are Amigos de los Rios ("Friends of the Rivers," referring to the Emerald Necklace).
![]() |
| (amigosdelosrios.org) |
In the wake of the Eaton Fires, our local trees need our help. We’re offering watering assistance for Altadena’s homeowners to protect and preserve our community canopy.
By signing up, those in need give permission for ADLR's trained team to visit a property and water its trees.
Amigos de los Rios is an Altadena-based 501c3 urban greening non-profit that has served the community since 2003.
Its office was destroyed in the Eaton Fire and many of our staff have been impacted by fire damage and loss, leading to a great deal of concern about the tremendous loss of trees thoughout this Los Angeles foothill community. It is critical to protect the remaining trees in Altadena by watering them over the hot Indian summer months to help them survive.
As such ADLR has started a program to help all families provide water to surviving trees.
ADLR is working hard to raise grant funds for this endeavor. Support ADLR by donating to this effort or volunteering.

Cloud-seeding Texas floods: Cause?

![]() |
| How bad could a flash flood be? |
Perhaps this is not [to the level of] "Weather Warfare" [the U.S. secretly practices], but it's cloud-seeding nonetheless.
The CEO of a weather modification technology company has confirmed cloud seeding operations took place in Texas just two days before the deadly central Texas flood occurred.
NBC News reported that CEO Augustus Doricko of Rainmaker, a weather modification company, said planes had released silver iodide into the atmosphere in Texas two days prior to the fatal Texas Hill Country (Guadalupe River) floods that have claimed over 100 lives.
Now, what are we to believe? Doricko claims the cloud-seeding operations did not cause the flooding in Texas.
According to Doricko, Rainmaker flew a brief 20-minute cloud-seeding mission in southcentral Texas last Tuesday but suspended all operations that same day due to abnormally high moisture content in the air.
The two clouds seeded during the Tuesday flight would have dissipated after a few hours and would have had no effect [whatsoever] on the floods several days later, he added.
Cloud-seeding involves using chemicals, often particles of silver iodide [or other particulate matter as is used in chemtrail aerosol campaigns that feature barium, aluminum, red blood cells, and secret ingredients to amplify EMF and microwave signals from H.A.A.R.P.], to trigger the formation of ice crystals or droplets from water that’s already present in a cloud but not being efficiently turned into rain.
Though the technique has been studied for decades [refined by American war criminals during the US War on Vietnam to flood the jungle and root out Viet Cong soldiers with 50 or so inches of rain to inundate specified areas during war], it remains difficult to predict the additional rainfall that cloud-seeding operations can generate, with estimates ranging widely from 0% to 20%.
What’s clear is that the technique [so far admitted to] would not have been able to generate the record-breaking rainfall seen in Texas. So much rain fell that the Guadalupe River at Kerrville, one of the epicenters of the floods, rose some 26 feet (8 meters) in less than an hour overnight on Friday [while campers slept while celebrating the 4th of July weekend or attending Christian girls summer camp].
"Based on the meteorological evidence, the Texas floods were caused by a powerful natural weather system, with thunderstorms fed by very moist air from the warm Gulf of Mexico," said Andrew Charlton-Perez, professor of meteorology at the University of Reading in the UK.
In a post on X (Twitter), Doricko shared: "The last seeding mission prior to the July 4th event was during the early afternoon of July 2nd, when a brief cloud seeding mission was flown over the eastern portions of south-central Texas, and two clouds were seeded."
Further: "The clouds that were seeded on July 2nd dissipated over 24 hours prior to the developing storm complex that would produce the flooding rainfall."
Final thought: Rainmaker may not be at fault, but this is an interesting development, indeed. Source: Confirmed: CEO of Weather Modification Company Reveals Cloud Seeding Operations Were Conducted in Texas Two Days Before Deadly Flood – Def-Con News

[Kappa asked the Buddha this question:]
For one stranded in the middle of the water,
in the flood of great danger called rebirth,
overwhelmed by aging and death,
Tell me, dear sir,
and show me the safe island
so that this may not happen again.
[The Buddha replied:]
For one stranded in the middle of the water
in the flood of great danger called rebirth,
overwhelmed by aging [rebirth] and death,
I will tell you the island, Kappa.
Having nothing,
clinging to no thing:
That is the island,
there is no other.
That refuge is nirvana, I declare,
the complete elimination of [rebirth] aging and death.

"However, Ven. Ratthapala has suffered none of these. So what did he know, see, or hear that he was motivated to go forth from the home life into the left-home life?"
"Great king, there are four summaries of the Dhamma (the Teaching) stated by the Blessed One [the Buddha] who directly knows and sees, the Worthy One, who rightly awakened. Having known and seen and heard them, I set forth from the home life into the left-home life. What are these four?

Dvejana Sutta: Two People (1)
Ven. Thanissaro (trans) edited by Dhr. Seven for Wisdom Quarterly
On one occasion the Blessed One was staying near the City of Savatthi in Jeta's Grove inside the multimillionaire's monastery.
Two Brahmins — feeble old men, aged, far advanced in years, having come to the last stage of life, 120 years old — went to the Blessed One, exchanged courteous greetings, sat respectfully to one side, and said:
"Master Gotama, we are Brahmins — feeble old men, aged, far advanced in years, having come to the last stage of life, 120 years old. We have done no wholesome deeds [accrued no merit, no profitable karma], no skillful deeds, no deeds that allay our fears. Teach us, Master Gotama, instruct us, Master Gotama, for our benefit and lasting happiness."

"With the world [flooded and] swept away by aging, illness, and death, any restraint of body, speech, and mind practiced here will be one's shelter, safety, island, and refuge after death in the world beyond."
It is swept along, this life, with its next-to-nothing span.
For one swept on by aging, no shelters exist.
Keeping in sight this danger in death, do meritorious deeds that ripen in bliss.
Whoever here is restrained in body, speech, and mind, who makes merit while alive, that will be for future bliss after passing from here.

Tons of lost U.S. gold
How many tons of gold did Europeans extract?
SUTRA: Gold Prospectors
“Raw [unprocessed native] gold has coarse impurities: soil, sand, gravel. A prospector or an apprentice gold panner pours it into another pan, where they wash, rinse, and clean it.
When those coarse impurities have been eliminated, there are middling impurities in the raw gold: dirt and grit.
The prospector washes it again. When those have been eliminated, there are fine impurities in the raw gold: fine black grime. The prospector washes it again. When that has been eliminated, only golden flecks remain.
A goldsmith or apprentice places the raw gold in a crucible where they heat, melt, then smelt it. Still the raw gold is not settled as the dross is not totally gone. The gold is not pliable, workable, or radiant, but rather is brittle and not yet ready to be worked.
The goldsmith keeps on heating, melting, and smelting it until the raw gold becomes pliable, workable, and radiant, no longer brittle but ready to be worked.
Then the goldsmith can successfully create any kind of ornament, bet it a bracelet, earring, necklace, or a golden garland.
In the same way, a monastic (wandering ascetic) committed to higher mind has coarse impurities (corruptions): unskillful bodily, verbal, and mental conduct. A sincere, capable monastic [in training] gives these up, gets rid of, lets go of, and eliminates them.
When they have been let go of and eliminated, there are middling impurities: thoughts of sensuality, malice, and cruelty. A sincere and capable monastic gives these up, lets go of, gets rid of, and eliminates them.
When they have been given up and eliminated, there are fine impurities: thoughts of family, country, and status. A sincere and capable monastic lets go of, gives these up, gets rid of, and eliminates them. When they have been given up and eliminated, only thoughts about the Teaching (Dharma) are left.

However, there comes a time when mind is stilled internally; it settles, unifies, and becomes absorbed (immersed) in samādhi. That absorption is peaceful and sublime, tranquil and unified, not held in place by forceful suppression.
A monastic (a skillful trainee) extends the mind to realize by insight each and every thing that can be realized by insight; they are capable of realizing those things because each and every one is within range. More

...Then the Brahmin householders of Venāgapura approached the Blessed One [the Buddha].
Some paid homage and sat down respectfully to one side; some exchanged greetings with him and, when they had concluded their greetings and cordial talk, sat down to one side; some reverentially saluted him and sat down to one side; some pronounced their name and clan and sat down to one side; some kept silent and sat down to one side.
The Brahmin Vacchagotta of Venāgapura then said to the Blessed One:
“It is astounding and amazing, Master Gotama [the Buddha], how Master Gotama’s faculties are tranquil and the color of his skin is pure and bright. Just as a yellow jujube fruit in the autumn is pure and bright, so Master Gotama’s faculties are tranquil and the color of his skin is pure and bright.
“Just as a palm fruit that has just been removed from its stalk is pure and bright, so Master Gotama’s faculties are tranquil and the color of his skin is pure and bright.

Dried plants bring dead land to life

![]() |
| Vegetation restoration and its environmental effects on the Loess Plateau, China (MDPI.com) |
How could dead and dried plant matter bring a mountain and a dry, dusty desert plateau back to life, making a wasteland lush with green plants and a restored ecosystem after its manmade ruin?
The Loess Plateau [a] is in north-central China. It is formed of loess, a clastic silt-like sediment formed by the accumulation of wind-blown dust. It is located southeast of the Gobi Desert and is surrounded by the Yellow River. It includes parts of the Chinese provinces of Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi and Shanxi [4].
The depositional setting of the Chinese Loess Plateau was shaped by the tectonic movement in the Neogene period, after which strong southeast winds caused by the East Asian Monsoon transported sediment to the plateau during the Quaternary period [5].
The three main morphological types in the Loess Plateau are loess platforms, ridges, and hills [4], formed by the deposition and erosion of loess.
![]() |
| How could dried plants give life to dead mountain? |
Most of the loess comes from the Gobi Desert and other nearby deserts [6]. The sediments were transported to the Loess Plateau during interglacial periods by southeasterly prevailing winds and winter monsoon winds.
After the deposition of sediments on the plateau, they were gradually compacted to form loess under the arid climate [4]. Loess Plateau
