Altadena's 'Collaboratory' grand opening

WHAT HAPPENED?
The opening of the Eaton Fire Collab was a great success. The parking lot was overflowing, and the 36,000 square foot space was packed shoulder to shoulder with tours, a party, and lots of tabling by non-profit organizations. In the future Free Store (for those who apply in advance) sits the mural shown above, which is about 25 feet long. There was a party going in the central meeting area, along with free snacks. When in full swing, this will be the largest fire recovery hub in California. There is an entire section dedicated to mental health, relaxation, and recovery. It includes art therapy, peer-to-peer counseling, and other psychological resources.

The EFC Collaboratory is having a grand opening on Tuesday, Oct. 7th, at 540 W. Woodbury Ave. in Altadena (near the intersection of Lincoln and Woodbury). This massive 36,000 square foot compound is the home to many non-profits and an art collective. Our collaboration mural with impact artist Ekaterina Sky is now housed here and visible in the west-facing lounge near the rolling doors. The vision for the remainder of the space will be explained on the day to visitors and guests.

Grand opening of EFC Collaboratory, Altadena
In January 2025, California faced one of the most devastating wildfire seasons in history. Thousands of families were displaced, homes were lost, and entire communities were left reeling in the aftermath.

For the past nine months, the StrongHome Network has been on the ground, serving, supporting, and walking alongside families impacted by these fires. Through collaboration with hundreds of dedicated organizations, SHN has worked tirelessly to help survivors rebuild their lives, restore hope, and begin again.

Now, SHN is thrilled to announce the Grand Opening of the Eaton Fire Collaboratory—a new shared space where over 40 organizations are coming together under one roof to continue this vital work.

The Collaboratory is a place of restoration, partnership, and community. Here, fire-affected families can access a wide range of resources including:
  • Essential needs and personal recovery support
  • Home rebuilding and construction guidance
  • Family and marriage strengthening programs
  • Mental health and wellness services
  • Business and financial recovery resources.
Following the grand opening, the Eaton Fire Collaboratory will remain open weekly during regular business hours to serve anyone in need of these resources.

Whether one seeks personal support, rebuilding assistance, or community connection, this will be a welcoming space for ongoing recovery and growth. If anyone was impacted by the fires or are passionate about supporting community recovery, all are invited to join SHN for this special event.

Come meet the partners, explore the space, connect with local leaders, and discover how we can all move forward—stronger together.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. stronghomenetwork.com/efc-collaboratory-october-7th

Tragedy in Texas, Guadalupe River flood

Shocking video shows Texas flood waters rising over 20 feet in 37 minutes
(New York Post) July 5, 2025: The death toll in the devastating Guadalupe River flash flood in south Texas has risen to 43 — including 28 adults and 15 children in Kerr County, officials said in a grim Saturday night update. Officials said 12 adults and five children have not yet been identified. Another press conference is expected Sunday morning. At least four of the dead — Renee Smajstrla, 8; Sarah Marsh, 8; Janie Hunt, 9; and Lila Bonner, 9 — were attending Camp Mystic, a Christian summer retreat for girls where 23 other campers were still unaccounted for. Family members took to social media to post the heartbreaking news. Read more at nypost.com/2025/07/05/us-news... #texas #flood #guadaluperiver

Bush Barbie, Joe Rogan nail Katy Perry

What the top of Mt. Stupid looks like – Blue Origin’s “astroNOTS” with Katy Perry
(Derek Van Schaik) April 17, 2025: This is not feminism, nor is it progress; this is like pink washing ("greenwashing," a kind of whitewashing or "hogwash" to appear green, in this case to appear pro-female). The world’s most qualified asstronauts in human history recently made a trip up to "space" in a dildonic Blue Origin thruster to do very important scientific research to further humanity.

Okay, maybe kids who graduate from Space Camp are more justified in calling themselves "astronauts" or "scientific researchers" than these blue suited ladies. Well, at least these “astronauts” were professional enough to maintain their composure on their way down to Earth ten minutes later.

Okay, fine, this was a just a billionaire’s version of a 10-minute carnival ride. Yes, the entire trip takeoff to landing lasted just 10 minutes and 22 seconds. And the only "training" they received was how to buckle and unbuckle their seatbelts — so calling themselves astronauts seems inaccurate and unfair to real astronauts.

What’s the saying? Chopping down one tree doesn’t make you a lumberjack — or was that, "Guns don't kill people...it’s mostly the bullets." These sayings are usually used in a different context, but the principle still holds: a single brief experience doesn’t make one a pro. What was most ridiculous thing about this stinking B.O. joyride? Let everyone know in the comments below.

Eaton Fire victims meet Erin Brockovich

WHAT HAPPENED?
Erin Brockovich portrayed by Julia Roberts
The lawyer Watts laid out the case as if those present, many of whom were in the mainstream media with cameras rolling, inside a special seminar room in Lake Avenue Church. Attorney Boxer, son of former Sen. Barbara Boxer, was present. The utility Edison is guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty, as the judge in Family Guy would say. The evidence is overwhelming. Whether Edison loses is not in question. How it loses is. If Edison presents itself as a competent and responsible company that made a mistake, it is eligible for 80% reimbursement for its legal losses (estimated to range from between 20 and 23 billion due to the Eaton Fire). However, if it is shown to have been incompetent and irresponsible, it will have to cover the entire amount from its own coffers. We were shown pictures of a grounding wire that was not in place but only jerry-rigged and held down with chicken wire, unable to serve its function of grounding electrical surges (into the ground as intended). There is film footage of the derelict "zombie" transmission tower maintained by Edison sparking (electrically arcing) and setting the forest ablaze. The most damning evidence, however, comes from Edison's own records of urgent work orders never completed to correct these issues to prevent such a disaster. Those records say it is a fire hazard; therefore, Edison had every reason to know what the danger was, what their incompetence would cause, what in fact their negligence did cause. They tried to hide all of this, but LA Fire Justice dug for it and found the evidence. The firm claims to have over 500 clients harmed by Edison. There are thousands more distributed among other lawyers, many who have rushed to the area to set up shop and cash in. They do not have the experience or skill to win big but winning in any way will likely make their move profitable.

Eaton Fire justice is LA Fire Justice's mission. Get started: INTAKE FORM
.
Then the real-life Erin Brockovich took the stage with a command of the facts and gravitas, siding with LAFireJustice.com against Edison. She has decades of experience dealing with corporate irresponsibility, and this is a blatant case of it. This makes Edison worse than PG&E, which itself caused one or more infamous fires by not monitoring and shutting down aged electrical equipment. Corporations privatize profits and socialize costs; it's an age-old problem. This is why they have to be held accountable.

Brockovich emphasized that the cleanup is not being done correctly, meaning that toxic heavy metals are spoiling the area. So in ten years or so, there will be a new wave of lawsuits to deal with that shortsightedness. Just today the local mainstream media is reporting how the City of Pasadena below the burn area has closed two baseball fields. They are unsafe due to elevated lead levels from the fire (from homes painted with lead-based paints when they were legal in the forties and fifties).

Community activist Brooke Teal Robbins was present with her parents, who were harmed and displaced by the Eaton Fire. She was promoting another LA Fire Justice "public awareness presentation." It is on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 5:00 pm at 221 E. Walnut St., Suite 100, in Pasadena 91101. It is becoming the new hub for community for Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre.

Julia Roberts as Erin Brockovich
Erin Brockovich
is a Julia Roberts film about a real person named Erin Brockovich (née Pattee, born June 22, 1960). She is an American paralegal, consumer advocate, and environmental activist who was instrumental in building a case against Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) involving groundwater contamination in Hinkley, California for attorney Ed Masry in 1993.

Their successful lawsuit was the subject of the Oscar-nominated film, Erin Brockovich (2000), starring [American Hindu] Julia Roberts as Brockovich and Albert Finney as Masry. Since then, the real Brockovich has become a media personality, hosting various TV series. More

Together, we will hold SoCal Edison accountable

Come meet Erin Brockovich in person
Brockovich: "I am so sorry for what you are going through right now. I know this wasn't just your home. It was your community and your way of life. I am sure you are asking yourself, where do I go from here? How do we even begin to recover from this disaster? Throughout my career as an advocate, I have talked to thousands of families that have had these same questions and have gone through what you are going through right now. I am here to tell you that we will get through this. And we will get through this together. Our team will be here every step of the way to help guide and support you through this challenging journey. We are ready to take on the fight to hold Southern California Edison accountable and get you and your community the justice you deserve."
  • Refreshments will be served. Catering provided by Pinocchio's Pizza. Families are welcome. Standing with residents of Altadena, Sierra Madre, and Pasadena

Series of earthquakes hits SoCal

Not all elephants get high. These smart animals followed their instincts to circle the wagons and protect the young of the herd in response to a natural temblor rocking the United Mexican States (Mexico) and former-Mexico (now calling itself the USA) north of the border in and around San Diego. Even the rockers rocking Coachella felt it, and they definitely were getting high.

Elephants form protective circle amid California earthquake
(TODAY) April 15, 2025: People across Southern California were jolted by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake in San Diego County Monday morning that was felt from Mexico to Los Angeles. Video from the San Diego Safari Zoo shows a herd of elephants instinctively forming a circle around their young to protect them from threats. NBC’s Liz Kreutz reports for TODAY.

Anti-Trump protests: Hands Off! (LIVE)

They're the men we love to hate, the comical and nearly fascist leaders of a dying nation
(New York Post) Anti-Trump DC protesters hold 'Hands Off' rally with rest of USA: LIVE

What to know about Saturday's nationwide "Hands Off!" anti-Trump protests
"Hands off my benefits..." 3/14/25 (Jeremy Hogan/SOPA/LightRocket Images via Getty Images).
.
My PR firm said US would love me. It's shocking
Imagine a map of at least 1,000 Anti-Trump and Musk events being planned across all 50 states for Saturday, April 5, 2025.

It's real and interactive (created by Kavya Beheraj for Axios) and shows a significant concentration in the Northeast, West Coast, and Rust Belt as part of the new Hands Off! Movement (handsoff2025.com). Events planned outside the U.S. are not shown.
We have to arrest vandals who did these things and deport them to prison or capitalism is at risk.
.
The nationwide Anti-President Trump Movement "Hands Off!" is expected to be the largest single-day protest this Saturday since the Orange Menace entered office. Why it matters:
  • I'm here to Make Israel Great Again (MIGA).
The Trump administration's wide-reaching and ground-shaking policies have mobilized a varied cross section of Americans affected by political, economic, social and legal changes.
  • "This is not just corruption," the Hands Off! website says. "This is not just mismanagement. This is a hostile takeover."
  • By the numbers: More than 1,100 rallies, visibility events, and meetings were scheduled in all 50 states as of Wednesday (April 3, 2025) afternoon.
  • Organizers said they had gotten nearly 250,000 RSVPs as of March 29.
  • R'n'r for freedom? Support brave journalism
The latest: White House Garden tours scheduled for Saturday were postponed to Sunday in anticipation of D.C. protests, First Lady Melania Trump said on Thursday.
  • State of play: Protesters are rallying against several Trump administration policies, including its handling of Social Security benefits, layoffs across the federal workforce, attacks on consumer protections and anti-immigrant policies and attacks on transgender people.
  • The protests are also against Elon Musk's involvement in the federal government via DOGE — after he's already faced a wave of [vandalism and] demonstrations at Tesla dealerships worldwide via the #TeslaTakedown movement.
  • The Hands Off! demonstrations will occur at state capitals, federal buildings, congressional offices, and city centers.
  • Dozens of advocacy organizations are partnering to support Saturday's action, including the Center for LGBTQ Economic Advancement & Research, Declaration for American Democracy, the Human Rights Campaign, Indivisible and Planned Parenthood.
Two out of two women agree, these sh*ts suck
What they're saying: "This is a nationwide mobilization to stop the most brazen power grab in modern history," the movement's website said. "Trump, Musk, and their billionaire cronies are orchestrating an all-out assault on our government, our economy, and our basic rights — enabled by Congress every step of the way."
