1914, the Free Alcohol bill is amended again to decrease the regulatory burden and encourage alcohol fuel production in the U.S.
1917, Alexander Graham Bell: "Alcohol makes a beautiful, clean and efficient fuel…Alcohol can be manufactured from corn stalks, and in fact from almost any vegetable matter capable of fermentation…We need never fear the exhaustion of our present fuel supplies so long as we can produce an annual crop of alcohol to any extent desired" [15].
1918, Scientific American says: It is "now definitely established that alcohol can be blended with gasoline to produce a suitable fuel…" [16]. Another article notes that the Pasteur Institute of France found it could obtain 10 U.S. gallons (38 L) of ethanol per ton of seaweed [17].
1919, Prohibition of beverage alcohol in the U.S. leads to suggestions for more ethanol use as an anti-knock blend with gasoline [18]. Farm belt politicians are split on ethanol as a fuel. While distillers could have a new market for their alcohol, some thought that allowing any distillery to stay open would be a "bargain with the devil."
1920s-1930s, Koolmotor, Benzalcool, Moltaco, Lattybentyl, Natelite, Alcool, and Agrol are some of the gasoline-ethanol blends of fuels once found in Britain, Italy, Hungary, Sweden, South Africa, Brazil and the USA (respectively). More
If Black don't crack and Asian don't raisin, could THC in cannabis be part of the reason?
Smoke THC, who TCH? (Thom in 2004)
Thom Hartmann or TCH (Thomas Carl Hartmann, born May 7, 1951) is now pro-THC? The American is a progressive radio personality, author, businessman, and nominal liberal [pro-Bernie, pro-Hillary, pro-Democrat] political commentator [1, 2]. Hartmann has been hosting a nationally syndicated radio show, "The Thom Hartmann Program," since 2003 and between 2010 and 2017 hosted a nightly television show, The Big Picture. More
AUDIO: Brain boost from THC in weed? When you think of cannabis, improving brain health might not be the first thing that comes to mind. In fact, you’ve probably heard the old trope that cannabis fries your memory... (The Mercury News)
Should anyone smoke CBD? Why does MA exist? What is abuse? Addiction medicine specialists like Dr. Drew Pinsky and Dr. Gabor Mate agree that when a substance begins to negative impact our lives and consequences of its use start piling up but we keep going, that's abuse. That's addiction, and calling cannabis "medicine" doesn't make a difference.
Pharmaceutical medicines can be as addictive and abused as anything from the "plant pharmacy" of natural substances. Now legal in many places, lots of Americans abuse marijuana. That's problematic, not only because it violates Buddhism's Five Precepts but because it's unskillful karma and it's poisoning them.
Legalization has not cleaned up pot but made the motive to include pesticides, fungicides, additives, and anything else that might make it more addictive, just as happened when "natural" Big Tobacco got their hands on the lowly tobacco plant. Neither nicotine in specific nor tobacco in general were very addictive until the industry got their hands on it, hired consultants, and began to add chemicals and sugars (used in curing) to it to make it highly addictive.
Pot is a plant that people plant in pots? Oh yeah.
Nicotine is a medicine. (Use patches of 7 mg or less for 6 days to resolve long-term Covid symptoms that have lingered, as Dr. Bryan Ardis advises). Before long, nicotine will be made illegal. It has to be because it is so valuable as a nutraceutical capable of undoing vaccine nanoparticles and other harmful adjuvants, excipients, and additives such as kraitsnake venoms, allegedly.
Despite its growing (profit-motive) legalization across the country, a lack of regulation has led to alarming levels of pesticides and chemicals in cannabis products — posing serious health risks.
This week, Adam Conover talks with Los Angeles Times investigative reporter Paige St. John about her recent findings on contaminated products being sold in fully legal dispensaries and what it means for consumers.

Kamala was on a media blitz, promoting legalization of weed (cannabis, THC) everywhere, brags about having a gun and being willing to shoot anyone who visits her house unexpectedly, cracked open a beer during an interview to seem hip, talks to her staff in secret by covering her mouth, backs all Israeli wars and will change nothing if she replaces Pres. Genocide Joe except that she will add a Republican "diversity hire" to her cabinet for inclusion and equity.
Does Kamala listen to Cypress Hill for ideas?
Hey, we're normal, right, Stevie? - You bet, Kami. - So let's chug Millers.
Of course I would: You ask me how I could just kill a man? I back wars.

Oct. 9, 2024: Jordan Klepper dives into presidential candidate VP Kamala Harris's press tour, including how she utterly fails to differentiate herself from Genocide Joe Biden (except that she plans to lean even more to the right by putting a Republican in her cabinet to advise her) and the revelation that as for handguns, she owns a deadly Glock. Plus, Melania Trump visits Fox News to discuss fecal adult diaper dependent Donald's pajamas, Stephen Miller exemplifies how to be a "sexual matador," and Project 2025 plans to take down porn. #DailyShow #KamalaHarris #MelaniaTrump #JordanKlepper

In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts
(ItsCbdBro) Summer 2024: Drugs are bad for you, so don’t do any. Unfortunately, the world we live in nowadays has made that extremely difficult. We are exposed to substances and drugs so frequently that it’s insane. And, yes, by drugs I mean everything like weed, white sugar, caffeine, nicotine all the way to synthetic fentanyl contaminating most all street drugs and plenty of pharmaceutical ones.
Today we are going to run through all the notable substances people frequently use in hopes of educating would-be abusers about them, also helping understand what they do to us and our bodies and how harmful they can be.
(ItsCBD Bro) Faded vs. High: marijuana versus alcohol
The Wisdom of Trauma
Remember, according to addiction medicine specialist Dr. Gabor Mate (drgabormate.com), NO drug or thing is addictive because if it were, everyone who took it would become addicted, and they don't. He has found that those with early childhood traumas who use drugs (and coping behaviors) become addicted very quickly and intensely, entering what in Buddhism is known as The Realm of Hungry Ghosts, which is a literal afterlife, but Dr. Mate is using it figuratively here because some seem to be there already, in a miserable world of dissatisfaction, want, and misery.

For only the second time, standup comic and former hopeless pothead Jimmy Dore has had a spiritual awakening. This time it was prompted by quitting cannabis (THC) and reading New Age literature from the sound of it. His new focus? The collective unconscious or what Carl Jung talked about in terms of archetypes and consciousness, dreams and the deeper meaning of life. This may only be a phase. The good news? His sense of humor survived, and the The Jimmy Dore Show will continue bigger than ever. Due to some unbelievable good fortune, voiceover and comedian Mike MacRae .com is still onboard with the politician and celebrity impressions. (Where's Hillary Supporter? We want to hear from Hillary Supporter, weekly if possible, and can do with less of Al Pacino).

Good plant (hemp) gone bad by the addition of synthetic chemicals for capitalist profit.
The problematic rise of Delta-8
We call it "pot," but it's not. It's now synthetic
(BC Productions) May 2024: Seemingly out of nowhere, Delta-8 has become one of the most popular synthetic drugs among millions of Americans, appearing in thousands of gas stations, vape shops, and more (even where cannabis is not yet legal) in a matter of a few years.
WARNING: Delta -8 contains toxic heavy metal contaminants. Grow your own from heirloom seeds.
But with Delta 8's meteoric rise comes many questions: How is it legal? How unsafe is it? How is it even made?
All drugs should be legal in Utopia
(Tyler Oliveira) Decriminalize all natural drugs, Man. God made them
Today, let’s take a look at the controversial rise of Delta-8 THC products and how, thanks to a tiny loophole in a federal bill, a massive industry has blossomed, an industry that has many causes for concern.
What's a "neon pill"? It's a synthetic (fake) chemical not occurring in nature but made by man in a lab, full of toxic dangers and synthesized colors, with contaminants and excipients, and body-damaging, illness-inducing substances.
Double crossed by a "Neon Pill"
John Hill/Cage the Elephant (lyrics)
Drugs are one thing, poisons another
It takes one to know one/ Back at it again/ Birds of a feather/ Until the end/ Stitched, patched up, and sewed in/ I'll probably see you again/ Most certain, it's likely/ Around, no doubt, my friend
[CHORUS] It's a hit and run, oh no/ Double-crossed by a neon pill/ Like a loaded gun, my love/ Double-crossed, crossed by a neon pill/ (I lost control of the wheel/ Double-crossed by a neon pill)
The [synthetic] taste of your lip balm/ Blew me away/ Cherry pie ChapStick/ Just like back in the day/ I sail the Atlantic/ Bisou fatal le femme/ Mon chéri, exactement/ Knocked down, not out, let's roll [Chorus]
Out in the open, I'm thinking it through/ And it took so long to find you, to find you [Chorus]
It's a hit and run, oh no/ Double-crossed by a neon pill/ Like a loaded gun, my love/ I lost (I lost) control (Control) of the wheel (Of the wheel)/ Double-crossed by a neon pill/ Double-crossed by a neon pill Double-crossed by a neon pill...

Did the lord smoke? No, he did not.
Drug abuse, whatever the drug (illegal or legal) is not likely to be in keeping with the Buddha's advice and the Five Precepts, the following of which means abstaining from intoxicants that occasion heedlessness.
What is heedlessness? Most simply put, it is violating the other four precepts. One would not kill, not steal, not engage in sexual misconduct, or bear false witness (speak harshly, lie, or idly chit chat), but one would when intoxicated.
Did the dinos? Yes, probably.
Therefore, intoxication can be seen to be harmful, perhaps the most harmful, of these precepts to violate.
If one sees in oneself that one behaves in virtuous ways and conducts oneself with restraint -- except when intoxicated on alcohol or any other substance, then one would be wise to avoid it.
This is true no matter if society is encouraging it, peers are pressuring for the use of it, or the culture is permissive of its use. It's our karma, not theirs. They are doing wrong promoting harmful things, but we will be the one to pay for it if we partake, think lightly of doing so, or fail to abstain from it.
Moreover, there are two kinds of high, two kinds of substances, but our language choice treats it all as one thing. We say we're "high" when we mean two opposite things.
Dude, I'm straight. I just grow it for hemp seed.
Whether we obtund our consciousness, smash it, obliterate it, cause illusions, distorted views, or misperceptions or intend to expand consciousness, reach for reality, for Truth, for right view, disillusionment, psychic visions, or seeing the world as it really is (with DMT the Spirit Molecule, bufo, iboga, kambo, ketamine, microdosing with magic mushrooms, ayahuasca, peyote, LSD, MDMA, or sacred plants, barks, and vines), we refer to both as "getting wasted." It's misleading, putting rotten sugar (alcohol) abuse on par with a sacred shamanic journey to healing or insight.
Are we feeding our dopamine jones or building up serotonin, chasing a thrill or getting real chill?
Do what you do, for that is your karma. Be careful what you intend, for that colors your karma (deed, action) and determines how the results (vipaka and phala) will arrive, unwished for and costly or welcome and profitable.
As the ecosystems around us grow increasingly fragmented, islands of intact habitat persist amid a sea of development and human infrastructure.
These reservoirs of biodiversity are sustained by the complexity of species relationships they harbor – relationships that are strengthened by connectivity and strained by isolation.
The 2024 Native Plant Garden Tour seeks to shine a light on the native plant gardens that reinvigorate urban habitats – a system of roots that stretches through the developed landscape and brings wild spaces closer to home.
Join the tour to find out how to create an island of biodiversity, strengthening the ecological roots of Los Angeles with native plants.
Spotlighting 40+ gardens across the city, this two-day journey will bring together the plants and people that make Southern California one of the most biodiverse places on the planet.
The gardens are divided into two groups, Westside Gardens which are open Saturday, April 13th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Eastside Gardens, which are open Sunday, April 14th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. A ticket allows holder into gardens on both days.
How to attend
Each ticket includes admission for a single visitor to all gardens across both days and a printed color guide with addresses provided.
The tour is self-guided, so visitors can see gardens that interest them and go at their own pace. Tickets and tour guides will be mailed starting in early March 2024. Children under 16 do not require a ticket.

Regular marijuana use might increase this human quality, study shows
(The Young Turks) Jan. 27, 2024: People who use cannabis (THC, CBD, terpenes, cannabinoids) may show more empathy towards others, according to a recent scientific study. Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur discuss on The Young Turks, a once good channel gone bad (as exposed by former TYT Correspondent Jimmy Dore).
"Some people may turn to weed for anxiety, sleep, and creativity. New research suggests it could also make you a nicer person.
The findings, published in the Journal of Neuroscience Research, suggests there could be a connection between cannabis use and empathy."
FORAGING WALK — WILD FOOD OUTING: Saturday, December 23, 10:00 am-1:30 pm ($45.00– $65.00). Both natives and non-natives (successful invasives) will be explored. This is a leisurely stroll with a chance to taste some of the plants.
Yes, lots of folks will be crammed into malls this weekend, but many would rather be outdoors with like-minded folks.
Wear comfortable footwear and bring water and a bowl for eating.
This class may be credited towards the School of Self-Reliance Ethnobotany Certificate.
Directions sent upon registration.
