Trump starts the world’s dumbest trade war, doubles down on DEI, and turns on California's faucet
(Jimmy Kimmel Live) Feb. 3, 2025: Punxsutawney Phil emerged and declared six more weeks of winter, Kanye West showed up on the Grammys red carpet despite not being invited, Illuminati member Will Smith was in attendance ostensibly to honor Quincy Jones (but really to remediate his destroyed reputation and that of his blank ex-wife), NBA star Luka Doncic somehow got traded to LA in maybe the most shocking move ever, Do Jo Trump is still posting about all of the water he thinks he sent Southern California, the White House is continuing to double down on his nonsensical assumption that DEI caused the tragic air crash last week in Washington, on Saturday Trump issued tariffs on Canada and Mexico before un-issuing them today, the Wall Street Journal ran an editorial saying his tariffs would cause the dumbest trade war in history, and a brand new declassified files edition of Lie Witness News.

The Satanic Philosophy of King Diamond and Mercyful Fate
(The Metal Mystic) Oct. 31, 2022. Welcome to the debut episode of The Metal Mystic, which analyzes the occult philosophy of some favorite metal artists from an Orthodox Christian perspective.
Mercyful Fate: The Early Years (metal documentary) 1981-1985
(Ruthless Metal) May 2, 2021. The Danish heavy metal icons Mercyful Fate formed in Copenhagen in 1981 after the dissolution of the early punk band Brats. And during a short span of four years, they changed the world's perception of metal. They released one EP (Mercyful Fate) and two full-length LP's (Melissa and Don't Break the Oath). They were fronted by the charismatic King Diamond who laid his falsetto vocals over the riffs of the dynamic duo of Hank Shermann and Michael Denner, while bassist Timi Hansen and drummer Kim Ruzz kept the beat. Let's take a deep dive into the early career of one of the greatest metal bands of all time.
This European guy, all modern and rational, makes a lot of sense to me: Hedonism, yeah!
.
Like LaVey, I'm a hedonist on stage w/my cross.
Today being Halloween, let's take a look at the Satanic philosophy of one of metal's most influential and enduring figures, the master of the metal macabre Danish King Diamond (born Kim Bendix Petersen) -- both with his original band, the legendary Mercyful Fate, as well as his subsequent self-titled solo band.
King has always been an outspoken proponent of Anton LaVey and the American hedonists known as the "Church of Satan." As one soon finds out, King Diamond holds his own unique spiritual beliefs.

It's Memorial Day weekend! What are we memorializing? We forget. So F it...in Vegas.
Punk rock's dead, but... No, come on, punk's not dead! It's vital and this four-day festival aims to show some relevant bands and old favorites with a few greats that never got the exposure they deserve. Them's the breaks. This was always about going against the stream, against commercial success, against the rock 'n' ethos of getting wasted, building an ego and a solo spotlight, then crashing and burning. Punk's about getting straight to the crashing and burning. Seek and destroy. F authority, anarchy, freedom, individuality, self-responsibility, stand up for something instead of falling for anything. Fight the power. Undermine the system. Or at least play something simple and fast with some animation and real emotion.
Bad Religion: "We're Only Gonna Die"
(PunkPit) kit.com/DigitalKeith, Feb. 2, 2018, PunkPit.com. Vocalist and UCLA Professor Greg Graffin, Ph.D. (who went on to study life sciences at some name brand university to earn a doctorate in biology because what are punks if not smart-asses and -alecs sticking it to The Man), is clever keeping it simple with the lyrics to this classic:

Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist (trailer)
(Collide Media Group) This Christian movie is in theaters starting January 26, 2023, for a very short run. (See leftbehindmovie.com for possible extended run).
Don't listen to the Protestants. Listen to Mel.
[What do Protestants think the "Rapture" is, to say nothing of the majority Catholics? Many beliefs are based on bestselling fiction books (novels) by Tim LaHaye, now a multimedia franchise. Don't worry, Catholics, Mel Gibson has got you coveredwith Passion of the Christ 2, out in 2024. The "Rapture" is a cult belief among many American Christians who don't bother to read the Bible for themselves. It's summarized above by Seth MacFarlane and Company in their show American Dad! Every church group has its own spin, few of them based on the text of the adequate translations (instead relying just on the King James version). It would be better to include the apocrypha in these interpretations and cross check with other translations, as Bible Hub and other websites now easily allow.]
"Catholics don't read the Bible."
After millions of people vanish and the world falls into chaos, the only light is a charismatic leader [The Antichrist] who rises to become head of the U.N. But does he bring hope for a better future? Or is it the end of the world?
[Recommended? No. We don't recommend watching this unless you're a fundamentalist Christian who loves to worry. Isn't President Joe the Antichrist, or is it ex-Pres. Don Trump? It has to be one of the British royals, probably Prince Andrew, because the One has to have the dragon on his family crest. There are lots of details of which to keep track. "Our church group is right, and your church group doesn't know jack," people will say. Then it's knives out as Christians attacks Christians, and they all go after the Jews, the heathens, the pagans, and those to be "Left Behind," like the Satanists (Slipknot since 2001's Iowa) and the wicked and evil atheists and agnostics, not to mention those d*mn Buddhists.]
LYRICS: President Joe once had a dream/ The world held his hand, gave their pledge/ So he told them his scheme for [an artificially intelligent] Savior Machine/ They called it The Prayer, its answer was law/ Its logic stopped war, gave them food/ How they adored till it cried in its boredom:/
"Please don't believe in me/ Please disagree with me/ Life is too easy/ A plague seems quite feasible now/ Or maybe a war/ Or I may kill you all"//
[CHORUS:] Don't let me stay, don't let me stay/ My logic says burn, so send me away/ Your minds are too green, I despise all I've seen/ You can't stake your lives on a Savior Machine//
I need you flying, and I'll show that dying/ Is living beyond reason, sacred dimension of time/ I perceive every sign, I can steal every mind// [Chorus]
According to researcher Emily Sigalow: Today, many Jewish Americans are embracing a dual religious identity, practicing Buddhism while also staying connected to the Jewish roots they were born into.
The book American JewBu tells the story of Judaism's encounter with Buddhism in the United States, showing how it has given rise to new contemplative forms within American Judaism ― and shaped the way Americans understand and practice Buddhism.
Taking readers from the 19th century to today, Sigalow traces the history of these two traditions in America and explains how they came together.
She argues that the distinctive social position of American Jews led them to their unique engagement with Buddhism and describes how they incorporate aspects of both Judaism and Buddhism into their everyday lives.
Sometimes I care more what happens in the CIA's Israel than I do about the US of A at home.
.
If only Buddhism could be funny!
Drawing on a wealth of original in-depth interviews conducted across the nation, Sigalow explores how Jewish American Buddhists experience their dual religious identities.
She reveals how Jewish Buddhists confound prevailing expectations of minority religions in America. Rather than simply adapting to the majority religion, Jews and Buddhists have borrowed and integrated elements from each other, and in doing so they have left an enduring mark on the American consciousness.
American JewBu highlights the leading role that American Jews have played in the popularization of meditation and mindfulness -- Theravada vipassana (insight meditation) and more so all forms of Tibetan Buddhism (Shambhala) and Nicheren "chanting for what you want" Buddhism (a Pure Land shortcut) -- in the US.
Sigalow also examines the profound impact these two venerable traditions have had on one another. More

Let's go on a visual journey to the fifth Dalai Lama’s private meditation chamber. The current Dalai Lama incarnation, Tenzin Gyatso, is the fourteenth in line, the spiritual and temporal leader (pope-king) of the Yellow Hats, a Tibetan Buddhist sect which holds sway only in Tibet except among the dominant Han Chinese who occupy the country. It's fun to wield power, have guns, a gang, legal protection, medical coverage...to be a cop.
.
"Ninety-nine percent of police make
the other 1% look bad."
Three kill as one guards fellow killers (WCCO).
It can't be a surprise that police repeatedly engage in discrimination and other wrongdoing. And that they keep doing it. After all, nothing is done to stop them, even if they are sent home with pay. It used to be that they were deprived of pay when accused until a perfunctory investigation was carried out.
Now it's a paid vacation. If one officer shoots, every officer must empty his/her gun or be laughed at, jeered, taunted, and ostracized by others on the force.
Police have shown over and over again that they are incapable of policing themselves. They are biased and occasionally throw a minority officer under the bus, showing their racism and awareness of what they are doing.
There are some murderers with badges in there.
As Prof. Joy DeGruy reveals, What happens when anyone points out the racism of the dominant group? People rush to caretake and reassure them that they are all right, "one of the good ones," not to be offended.
White privilege benefits us all -- so long as we pass as white. It harms everyone, even if we imagine we are not touched by it. It is the systemic, institutional racism that is the deeper problem, not the individual hate, fear, bias, and mistreatment meted out by average (not rogue) police, even brown and black ones.
Join insightLA for an afternoon with Tim Wise as he explores the importance of staying strong in difficult times, committing to the struggle for justice, even when justice seems far away.
Weaving social movement history with contemporary analysis, humor, and storytelling, Wise provides practical tools for movement building, self-care, how to build effective coalitions, and how to avoid some of the pitfalls that occasionally befall organizers and activists in every generation.
In this talk Wise also examines the difference between systems of oppression and individuals who occasionally act in oppressive ways and how to stay focused principally on the former, as a way to lessen the harms of both.
Additionally, he explores the importance of “radical humility” in movement work by recognizing our own mistakes, our own (often slow) process of becoming aware of injustices, and the recognition that we still have much to learn from one another.
This presentation intends to help boost the resilience of those seeking a more just and equitable world, but who find themselves frustrated by the slow—and often backwards—pace of change.
Tim Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and educators in the United States. Named one of “25 Visionaries Who are Changing Your World” by Utne Reader, Wise has spoken in all 50 states, on over 1,000 college and high school campuses, and to community groups across the nation. Wise is the author of seven books, including his latest, Under the Affluence: Shaming the Poor, Praising the Rich and Sacrificing the Future of America and his highly acclaimed memoir, White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son. He is also the host of the popular bi-weekly podcast "Speak Out with Tim Wise." He has appeared on hundreds of radio and TV programs and is a regular contributor to discussions about race on CNN.
