This 'l save our kids from capitalist exploitation
The Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) was a bipartisan U.S. government committee formed in 1985 [1] with the stated goal of "increasing parental control over children's access to music deemed to have violent, drug-related, or sexual themes."
The committee's work led to the widespread adoption of the Parental Advisory sticker. The PMRC was known for its prejudicial targeting of heavy metal music, which drew opposition and criticism [2].
On political and religious grounds, the committee was supported by American Protestant televangelists, Reaganites, and the larger Christian evangelical movement, who accused hard rock and heavy metal music of harboring Satanic and occult related themes.
The committee was founded by four women known as the "Washington Wives"—a reference to their husbands' connections with the government power elite in the Washington, D.C. area.
Those female founders of the PMRC are Tipper Gore, wife of Senator and later Vice President Al Gore... More

Mermaid Island LIVE @ Knucklehead Hollywood, California
(Blur's Dream) KNUCKLEHEAD HOLLYWOOD. I brought my Sony A7R IV to Knucklehead Hollywood to document this up-and-coming punk rock ensemble. The bill consisted of M-16, Spunk, Mermaid Island, and Spray Allen. The energy at this show was wild. Shoutout to the Latex Vixens for dancing during the live sets. I had a ton of fun, and the bands played super dope music! Apologies to M-16 for not filming the first half of the set. Go check out Mermaid Island.
It was a contentious year, with many votes for Kenya Grace's "Strangers," which would have won had it not been for the fact that it came out earlier and only broke through later. LIVE / BBC

Blame it on "Barbie" (actor Margot Robbie) - Why's your metal music so depressing, Bro?
Heavy metal or mental illness?
You call yourself a meditator with that racket?
(Wyatt's Metal) It's 2025, and there is one kind of music that is not going away. Rather than fading, it spreads. Why? The fanbase. Misfits like metal? Mental patients are moved? Animals like the beat and melody of music? Let's take a deep dive into the effects heavy metal (with all its genres like death metal, symphonic metal, extreme metal, speed metal, black metal, etc.) music can have on mental health.
Yes, this is good stuff. I will tell Xenon for sure.
(Virtuosity) Who's the greater musical genius, Beethoven or Mozart? The Fifth Symphony is hard to beat, dramatic as it is, but "Rondo Alla Turca" is a Mozart masterpiece that just might. Of course, it's dark apples to bright oranges.
Was it a huMAN invention or an EThereal inspiration? It's Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's birthday today, Dec. 17th, and we are listening to the exquisite Turkish March.
Wolf-Am-Mo was a classical musician and composer who had no need of shooting wolves as he could tame any savage beast with just his music. His piano compositions are breathtaking. otherworldly, too good for just this planet. The whole solar system should be able to hear him.
In fact, he is so good that this planet takes him for granted and might forget him. Not so Los Angeles, which has KUSC.org (91.5 FM) to remind us on the air and online, thanks to the generous support of special philanthropists and ordinary donors to the radio station.

(Fazıl Say) Nov. 11, 2015: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 11 in A-Major, K.331
III. Alla Turca – Allegretto. The last movement, Alla Turca, popularly known as the "Turkish March," is often heard on its own and is one of Mozart's best-known piano pieces.
Mozart himself titled the rondo "Alla Turca." It imitates the sound of Turkish Janissary bands, the music of which was much in vogue at that time.
Various other works of the time imitate this Turkish style, including Mozart's own opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
In Mozart's time, the last movement was sometimes performed on pianos built with a "Turkish stop," allowing it to be embellished with extra percussion effects.
The form of the rondo is A-B-C-D-E-C-A-B-C-coda, with each section (except the coda) being repeated twice.

Composing is always a form of improvisation -- with ideas, with musical particles, with imaginary shapes -- and it is in this sense that the artistic itinerary and the worldview of the Turkish composer and pianist Fazıl Say should be understood.
For it was from the free form with which he became familiar in the course of his piano lessons with the Cortot pupil Mithat Fenmen that he developed an aesthetic outlook that constitutes the core of his self-conception as a composer.
Fazıl Say has been touching audiences and critics alike for more than 25 years in a way that has become rare in the increasingly materialistic and elaborately organized classical music world. Concerts with this artist are something else. They are more direct, more open, more exciting. In short, they go straight to the heart because the same may be said of his compositions.
(But the real question is, Will the extraterrestrials like it? It might not make a bit of the difference to them, so we'd better stick with playing an analog (rather than digital) version of the original for them or as close as we humanly come to it, which will almost certainly mean finding some young Asian prodigy, preferably a child who just has a knack for the song and no understanding of the context.)
Oh, honestly, why do you kids have to mosh and slam in pits of your own creation? Sit down!

While veterans with PTSD get all the attention, it is actually National Metal Day today, is a celebration for heavy metal fans, giving them the perfect excuse to crank up their favorite tracks and let loose.
It’s a day dedicated to the powerful music genre that broke barriers with its intense sound and rebellious spirit.
Getting its start in the late 1960s, metal music has always been a bit on the edge of the standard. And when the rockumentary (or mockumentary), This Is Spinal Tap, about a fictitious heavy metal band came out in 1984, it brought a whole new perspective to the idea of metal.
From the roaring guitar riffs of Black Sabbath to the electrifying performances of Metallica, this day unites fans across the globe. It’s time for #NationalMetalDay!
When did "hard rock" become "heavy metal"? Led Zep
The "Heavy Metal Monk" sings "the Devil's music" in Italy?
How to Celebrate National Metal Day
Surely people who are celebrating National Metal Day should take it up to 11! Consider some of these ideas for celebrating the day in a style that is filled with long hair and is super loud:
If you’ve never seen it before, or if you have seen it dozens of times and are nostalgic for it, National Metal Day is the best day to watch This is Spinal Tap. This tongue-in-cheek film was made in 1984 and stars Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer.
Listen to Some Metal Music
Best metal band: Baby Metal?
Of course, one of the more obvious ways to celebrate and observe National Metal Day is to listen to some metal music. Perhaps go with some classic metal bands that have been around for quite some time, with songs such as these: More
Sadly, heavy metal is viewed as a thing for boys. And that it may be. But in actuality, the best, heaviest, most listenable metal incorporates a femaletouch. Here's all the proof we need:
Why this should be so, in our opinion, is that if metal music is like very strong black coffee (or bitter dark chocolate). It sucks, but it suddenly becomes delicious for its darkness when paired with some toasty nonsense like sweet biscotti.
A little biscotti -- or sugar, or creamer, or foam -- makes coffee go a long way, like cafe latte. All dark all the time is ick, yack, hurl, a strong jolt, sure, but not exactly palatable all the time.
Add that accent and then addiction really sets in. The best example of this may be the best metal combo ever is partly Japanese Buddhist (shown above in front of GoddessKwannon/Kwan Yin): BabyMetal!

But there are the Iron Maidens (all-female group playing Iron Maiden covers), and there's the great Alissa White-Gluz of the Agonist and other outfits, and Nina Persons doing lounge covers of Black Sabbath inspired tunes (Heartbreaker and Iron Man) with The Cardigans. (Okay, that's too much sugar for most, but all the scarier for it). There's the singer for Sentinel Beast, and Kirsten in Eternal Conspiracy. Or how about Tori Amos covering Slayer?
From The Agonist to Arch Enemy
Then, of course, there all the female fans at live shows that make live shows worth attending, and plenty of less obscure talent like that 6-year-old kid on America's Got Talent that time.
Metal has gone infinitely diverse with subgenres, so there's something for everyone, including the darkest Norwegian death metal.

He sold his soul for rock 'n roll w/ Black Sabbath
But back East, metal lives. Aggro Chris Barnes replacement George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher antagonizes the crowd, stirring them up for a particularly vicious mosh pit and slamfest. Careful, kids, you might spill your drinks.
It isn't just Coachella and Stagecoach that California is famous for. There are also big mega shows and a kind of hard rock almost metal show on the same Polo Grounds in Indio.
Slipknot took the mantle from Ozzy.
Knotfest and OzzFest used to come through Southern California every year out in a dusty field surrounded by hills next to the 15 Freeway. Is metal making enough money for the Devil to still be interested?
If rock 'n roll is the great Satan, or at least the sort of music the Dark Lord prefers, why would so much more progress be made using Taylor Swift, Beyonce, weird Billie Eilish, sexy Dua Lipa, and all the flash-in-the-pan pop singers, particularly those from Korea (K-Pop) and manufactured in Hollywood public relations offices?
Ozzy loves California so much, he lives here and has for years. He's close to Hollywood.
