Mermaid Island LIVE @ Knucklehead Hollywood, California
(Blur's Dream) KNUCKLEHEAD HOLLYWOOD. I brought my Sony A7R IV to Knucklehead Hollywood to document this up-and-coming punk rock ensemble. The bill consisted of M-16, Spunk, Mermaid Island, and Spray Allen. The energy at this show was wild. Shoutout to the Latex Vixens for dancing during the live sets. I had a ton of fun, and the bands played super dope music! Apologies to M-16 for not filming the first half of the set. Go check out Mermaid Island.
There was a "Mann Act" (previously called the White-Slave Traffic Act, a U.S. federal law passed in the summer of 1910, Ch. 395, 36 Stat. 825, codified as amended at 18 U.S.C. §§ 2421–2424) named after [racist American] Congressman James Robert Mann of Illinois), and the white 54th Gov. of NY Eliot Spitzer was going to be prosecuted under it decades later for his prostitution scandal?
(TYT Sports) Sept. 29, 2025: A resurfaced Dave Chappelle standup comedy bit about legendary Black heavyweight champion Jack Johnson perfectly captures why MAGA’s crusade to rewrite and erase history is so dangerous. Johnson’s story exposed the fragility of white supremacy in the boxing ring and beyond — and the violent backlash that followed. As Rick Strom explains, Chappelle’s comedy reveals deeper truths about America’s refusal to confront racism, and why protecting Black history is essential. #TYTsports #Sports #RickStrom
Dave Chappelle and Muhammad Ali were right about Jack Johnson
(Lu Mazing) Aug. 22, 2025: Jack Johnson was more than a boxing champion, he was a revolutionary figure who challenged a racially divided world. Dave Chappelle highlights how Johnson defeated white champions and lived boldly without fear, openly defying the rules of his time and inspiring generations of Black people to embrace courage and self-worth.
Muhammad Ali reminds us of the sheer bravery of Johnson standing completely alone, facing threats and hostility when there were no civil rights organizations to support him. His resilience became a symbol for all Black people to fight for dignity and pursue their dreams.
Donald Trump posthumously pardoned Johnson, acknowledging the injustice he endured under the racist Mann Act, recognizing his extraordinary achievements and legacy as a trailblazer in sports and society. This video brings together perspectives from comedy, sports, and history to show how Jack Johnson changed the world and why his courage continues to inspire us all.

The Gathering of the Juggalos (also known as "The Gathering" or GOTJ) [1] is a decadent annual music festival put on by Psychopathic Records, featuring performances by the entire label roster as well as numerous well-known musical groups and underground artists.
It was founded by Jumpsteady, Insane Clown Posse (the two-man white rap group Joseph Bruce and Joseph Utsler), and their label in the Year 2000.
Is there ANYTHING redeeming about this insane festival of mayhem, madness, and what seems like a lot of meth? Yes: It's explained in the Epilogue
Described by Joseph Bruce as "Juggalo Woodstock" [2] (Juggalo being a nickname for fans of the ICP or Insane Clown Posse), the Gathering of the Juggalos spans five days and includes [lots of drug abuse] concerts, wrestling, games, contests, autograph sessions, karaoke, and seminars with artists.
Over its first eleven events (2000–2010), the festival drew a total attendance upward of 100,000 fans [3]. More
The new Margaret Cho? Comedian Atsuko Okatsuka [the u's are silent] is known for finding humor in the dysfunction of her immigrant family.
Born in Taiwan to Japanese and Taiwanese parents, she traveled from Japan to Los Angeles with her grandmother and mother when she was 8 for what she thought was a short vacation.
In fact, they were moving.
It would be years before Okatsuka saw her father again. She later described being "kidnapped" by her grandmother on a 2023 episode of This American Life.
"My grandma and I hadn't really talked about it in depth until [then]," she says. "And it helped that I got to do with Ira [Glass, host of This American Life] and the thousands and thousands of thousands of listeners at the same time, then I'm really not alone." More + AUDIO

After 30 years of being missing, Family Guy's LOST pilot has finally been found! Today let's talk about the major differences between the pilot and what eventually became Season 1, Episode 1 of the series Fox TV ordered from creator and animator Seth MacFarlane.
In the beginning, MacFarlane pitched a 16-minute pilot to Fox in May 1998, and the show was greenlit and began production. Then came the Family Guy controversies. By 2002, Family Guy'scancellation was announced shortly after the third season had aired, with one unaired episode eventually premiering on Adult Swim in 2003, finishing the series' original run. Favorable DVD sales and high ratings from syndicated reruns since then convinced Fox to revive the show in 2004; the fourth season began airing the following year, on May 1, 2005. The end.
Rapper Lil Yachty CALLS OUT Black Lives Matter (BLM) because Patrisse Cullors spent millions of dollars (taken from the BLM foundation) buying mansions in Los Angeles and Canada, while Blacks suffered grievously under police, state, and court oppression.
"Black lives do not matteruntil all lives matters," for anyone who thinks Blacks are being selfish to single themselves out as being in need of fair treatment as if we were not all in need of it.
Indeed, everyone needs it, but it should be obvious that everyone does not get it, and Black are among the most oppressed groups in society along with Indigenous and Hispanic folks. This is a demonstrable fact, and if anyone who points it out makes others uncomfortable, it may be necessary to look up Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, white privilege, white fragility, and most of all IMPLICIT bias.
We are becoming more aware of an inequitable system based on race, just as the Me Too Movement brought attention to the disparate treatment of women in Hollywood's movie and music industries. Awareness has not been enough. Systemic change is needed.
Reparations are needed because the same whites who say they did not own slaves and should not be blamed for the past are benefitting from the country's past system of oppression that advantaged them in the past and present and is doing so into the future. See the work of Dr. Joy DeGruy and Prof. Michelle Alexander for starters.

American Edward P. Vining, who lived until 1920, was a writer, railroad executive [1], and author of An Inglorious Columbus (1885), in which he argued that Buddhist monk Hui Shen was originally from Afghanistan (Gandhara), traveled to China and Mexico, and created pre-Columbian Mexican culture and religion. More
It was Buddhist missionaries fromAfghanistan led by Chinese monk Hwui Shan. Vining published his massive text in 1895, yet Americans today are surprised to hear anything about it. Buddhists were in the Grand Canyon from ancient times, along with Hindus or Atlanteans (those from Atzlan?) or followers of a more universalist blended world religion of the past, long before Christian hegemony and the activities of the Catholic Church, its pope, and rapist-priests accompanying soldiers, killers, and slavedrivers to make sure the Vatican got its cut of the booty as it decreed a Doctrine of Discovery to cover them legally in Europe.
Jaw-dropping MEXICAN ancestry and DNA results revealed
These civilizations built great cities and empires that amazed the Spanish, developed sophisticated writing and calendrical systems, and engaged in extensive trade networks.
However, the Spanish onslaught, led by the infamous Conquistador Hernán Cortés, resulted in a dramatic transformation and ruin of the region.
The collision of these two civilizations — indigenous Mesoamerican societies and Old World European imperialists — resulted in the creation of modern Latino identity, a blend of Indigenous and Spanish bloodlines.
Brutal colonization brought a foreign language (Spanish), an odd religion (Catholicism), and customs (mass rape, hegemony, racially based chattel slavery) and a reshaping of political and social structures, often at the expense of Indigenous autonomy.
The conquest nearly wiped out these Native groups, but indigenous cultures proved remarkably resilient, influencing everything from language and cuisine to spirituality and artistic traditions. #mexico #panama #guatemala #centralamerica #mesoamerica
Q: Is we slightly stoopid? We owned muscle cars as teens. Very mindful, very demure, right? We had fat tires, needlessly shiny rims, and coatings of black primer instead of proper paint jobs, which were coming.
A: Listening to hardcore LA punk and heavier and heavier metal of all kinds, it made sense. American boys need power, at least the LA (and Detroit) ones. Humans need the feel of speed. We were hardly the first American'ts to feel drawn to the exaggerated feminine curves of the Chevy Corvette over the square stylings of the Ford Mustang or the silly buggy shape of Hitler's Folkswagon (VW). The Chevy Camaro, the Malibu, the Nova, the Predator, the Scylla, the Leviathan, somewhere there were balding men during the Fifties fueling these fevered dreams of "Man and Machine." Women, too, strange tomboys and uberkoolchix. It was not the most meditative thing one could have been doing though in someways there was Zen and being in the zone. Gary Numan had a lot to do with it.
What synthetic drugs must you have been on in the Seventies, Gary?
The best rock 'n roll song about driving: Deep Purple's "Highway Star"
But we had watched so many car chase scenes on the big and small screen, we needed to instigate fights between Rubber and Asphalt, drift, spin out, make shifting sounds with our mouths, and annoy the neighbors with roars and squeals. What, we were the only ones? It only got worse.
Polish until Death's reflection is clearly visible.
Needing more speed and agility, I upped the ante by purchasing a motorcycle, a deadly "moto-sickle" as I used to call it, not realizing the danger I was in. The tank on the Yamaha was shaped like a little coffin. That should have been a sign. I hit the wall. But the spongy brain, being what it is, had amnesia. So I kept driving, speeding, and skidding about.
Brits love Buicks? Madness "Driving in My Car"
Fortunately, others were much smarter than I was. Cars, Man, cars are the way to go. That way when one brakes, they might actually stop and, if not, the bumper might absorb the impact instead of using the forehead.
But classic cars? Who's interested in polluting the environment with a gurgling gas guzzler, a blinding chrome land missile, a metallic death trap, a gleaming attention magnet?
Imagine the singlemindedness it takes to drive. The faster one goes, the more focus. The more dangerous the ride, the more remaining calm (samatha), cool (upekkha), and collected (ekagata nearly to the point of samadhi) becomes paramount. Harder, faster...calmer. If one were in a sword fight, that's no time to stress, strain, and think. It is time to act decisively and reach of state of zen (jhana, dhyana, chan). Driving can make one more meditative, more calm, in the zone, beyond thinking, operating in a state of being that must remain present or 🚗 💥. In the mosh pit, one can have this same feeling, or in war, or in any life-and-death situation. The mind quietens. Focus becomes like a laser. The senses heighten but the breath seems to disappear. This is not about efforting and panicking but the opposite, exhiliration and "being here now."
What does a mosh pit have to do with anything?
