Ready to be scared? This Halloween weekend, KPCC FM (scpr.org) brings the “Spooked” marathon.

Ever felt an icy chill suddenly come over a room? Ever see doors slam unexpectedly, heard footsteps creeping down a hall when you’re all by yourself, or felt the touch or presence of something supernatural?

If so, there are many others who have, too. We’re not alone. Host Glynn Washington (Snap Judgement) brings REAL stories of unexplained phenomena and unknown occurrences.

They are told by the people they happened to. It's the basis of “Spooked,” Washington's brainchild. AirTalk hears from Washington what inspired his love of the supernatural.
The “Spooked” marathon runs from 6:00 pm to midnight Saturday and Sunday nights, on 89.3 FM KPCC, Los Angeles (an online around the world at scpr.org).

Where do we go when we die?
Death is here! En garde! - Oh, hey Death.
It's important to know. The Dead, in a sense, have not gone anywhere. They are right here with us. They walk among us as pretas ("hungry ghosts") if they did not attain a fortunate rebirth. Karma works opportunistically. So it is not possible to tell for any  person (other than those who have attained one or more of the stages of enlightenment by the overcoming of the defilements and fetters) where they have ended up -- in the heavens, another world in the human plane, among spirits, devas, ogres, animals, roughly categorized into 31 types of worlds, including hellish ones.

The "Day of the Dead," or Dia de los Muertos, serves as a time for folks to commemorate loved ones who have passed.

Although the holiday is predominantly celebrated in Mexico, many other areas also observe the festivities as well -- including California.

Yet the pandemic has affected the event for two years, forcing many communities indoors to mourn loved ones at home. As things begin to reopen, many are using this year’s festivities to join together with their unique communities to honor the recently deceased at one of many events around SoCal.

AirTalk Host Larry Mantle interviews to event organizers:
They talk about some of the Dia de los Muertos events happening this year in Southern California.

Advanced civilization before humans? (video)

Was there an advanced civilization before humans? | Answers with Joe
(Joe Scott, July 20, 2020) It took humans 10,000 years to go from hunter-gatherers to world domination. Considering the vastness of time that humans and life have been on Earth, could this have happened before [as the Buddha, the Vedas, and Jainism tell us]? This question was put forth by Adam Frank and Gavin Schmidt in their paper titled "The Silurian Hypothesis," where they tried to figure out what in the geologic record would be a sign of a previous industrial civilization. It brings up a lot of questions and makes us deal with the weight of deep time, as well as the fleeting nature of history.

A Beginner’s Guide to Meditation (Balance)

A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO MEDITATION (AND WHY IT’S NOT AS HARD AS IT SEEMS)
Mindful meditation (Cathy Thorne/HuffPost Life)
Let's debunk the myths so we can take a few minutes out of our day to enjoy some ultimate "me" time.

Only hippies do meditation, right? They sit cross-legged on groovy cushions and chant while a CD plays whale music. Well, no, actually.

There’s nothing weird about meditation at all. Mean Ellen DeGeneres sums it up perfectly when she likens it to fixing a computer: "Sometimes, when it goes crazy, you just have to shut it down and, when you turn it back on, it’s OK again," she says. "That’s what meditation is."

So how does one meditate? Just sit and relax. A straight back is good, but that can be done with a chair. Sit cross-legged if it appeals – but no one has to. Now "concentrate" [lightly put attention on an object, and lightly bring it back if it drifts off, while abandoning everything else but the] breathing.

When does something like this happen?
Breathe in all the way down, down, into the lungs. Then breathe out simply by letting go, nice and slowly. Drop everything else. Forget about it. Just attend to one thing, this thing, the breath at the tip of the nose.

Don’t think it’s being done wrong if the mind is active. With practice, it’ll be able to clear the head and push other thoughts away as they arise. When will that be? Stop worrying about it; let go. It doesn’t matter. There isn’t really a "right" or "wrong" way. More

Science and Spirituality: What is TIME?

Lisa Broderick (C2C, 10/27/21); S. Auberon, Dhr. Seven, P. Macpherson (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Science advocate, time expert, and Monroe Institute siddha Lisa Broderick

Lisa Broderick (allthetimebook.com) is a Transcendental Meditation (TM) siddha, who attended the Monroe Institute (monroeinstitute.org) for the exploration of expanded states of consciousness.

She discusses the nature of time, the possibility of time travel (as allowed for by Einsteinian physics), extra-terrestrials (ETs), and near-death experiences (NDEs).

There is a physical component to time, which is that things move and change, she explained, but there is also a perception aspect that is crucial:

"If we can slow down our perception then we can control time for ourselves," she states.

Einstein, she notes, believed that time is an illusion. Einstein had a theory that time travel is possible via wormholes, but he did not believe that time travel could be possible in spite of the math saying it is.

Broderick recalled her childhood NDE which occurred after an accident, and how the experience of being out of her body first led her to wonder about the mystery of time.

If we consider ETs to be interdimensional travelers who can manipulate time better than we can, which might explain a lot of the anomalous reports about them and their spacecrafts, she suggests.

Broderick talks about the concept of phase, which in physics refers to synchronizing different waves with certain frequencies.

Dr. Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. praises All the Time
She hypothesizes that time travelers and ETs might be seen by us when they're in an out-of-phase mode, and similarly when a person dies, if that person is are temporarily out-of-phase, s/he might appear to us as a ghost.

Upon death, she says, we do not go anywhere. It's really more of a time shift. She also expounded on the idea that we live in a multiverse of infinite iterations, in which people can seamlessly shift into parallel timelines. More + AUDIO

Native American Men's Group (comedy)

1491s Comedy Group; Xochitl, Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

1491s with audience, Simon Fraser University
The 1491s are a Native American sketch comedy group, with members based in Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Montana.

The members' sketch comedy has had a growing cult following since the mid-2000s, with videos since 2009. But they are perhaps best known for their work on shows such as Reservation Dogs and Rutherford Falls [1, 2, 3].

Their comedy sketches, spoken word, and longer narrative works depict contemporary Native American life in the United States, using humor and satire to explore issues such as stereotypes and racism (internal and external), tribal politics, and the conflict between tradition and modernity.

Sometimes wisdom comes in the form of comedy
Their over 150 YouTube videos have frequently gone viral, including their first video, the Twilight parody “New Moon Wolf Pack Auditions!!!!” [4, 5, 6].

A Los Angeles Times reporter described the group's output as "dozens of videos, some crass, some cryptic, some laugh-out-loud hilarious" [4].

Group member Dallas Goldtooth has cited British comedy legends Monty Python's Flying Circus as an influence. The group creates all of its pieces collectively [4, 7].

The group's name is a reference to the year 1491, the last year before the arrival of Christopher Columbus and widespread European invasion, colonization, and enslavement of the Americas began [8]. More

Jordan Peterson: Men who are trapped in childhood
(Better Chapter, Oct. 4, 2021) There's a sacrificial element in maturation, right? You have to sacrifice the pluri-potentiality of childhood for the actuality of a frame and the question is, Well, why would you do that? Universal digital vaxx ID and Bill Gates (video)

Jimmy Dore (jimmydorecomedy.com) Max Blumenthal (The Gray Zone); Eds., Wisdom Quarterly

According to TheGrayZone.com, there is a DIABOLICAL plan afoot: the Thales Digital ID (like Aadhaar, India's spying system by Bill Gates' billionaire friend Nandan Nilekani). A central ID and digital currency go hand in hand. So Bill Gates is pushing for just such a universal government ID (using a dystopian handheld "telescreen" mobile phone device) to control our lives based on vaccination status, banking, mandatory compliance with government mandates, purchases, movements and, of course, policing... It's full spectrum control of our lives dependent on technology.
