AJ condemned the cyberattack as an “assault on press freedom.” These findings were corroborated by the Citizen Lab, which found in an investigation that the Israeli ad company Discover-Tech used personalized advertisements to deliver spyware from Candiru, an Israeli spyware company, that was blacklisted by the U.S. government in 2021 over its malicious software.
