Yoga cult founder sued for sex abuse, resigns

Last July we reported on an Arizona lawsuit against Dahn Yoga & Health Centers, a national chain of 139 yoga centers. The plaintiffs, 27 former Dahn Yoga practitioners, claimed they were brainwashed and duped into spending thousands of dollars on Dahn yoga classes and retreats. The suit also charged that Ilchi Lee, the 57-year-old Korean founder of Dahn and its spiritual leader, sexually preyed on young female disciples. Dahn, Lee, and the other defendants have denied the charges and called the allegations frivolous. But the suit, apparently, has taken its toll on the spiritual leader. Pasadena: The Peace Tent


Day One
presents one week of
THE PEACE TENT

FREE, Sept. 13-20, 2009 at 175 N. Euclid Ave., Pasadena, CA 91101

The Peace Tent -- constructed by artists Otis Bardwell, David Le Moine, Jane Gillespie -- will be set up on the lawn of Day One. It will be open daily from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm for visitors to sit in for:
  • quiet contemplation
  • meditation
  • prayer
  • to experience inner peaceful dialogue

Stay for five, ten, fifteen, or sixty minutes! Enjoy scheduled daily activities for the mind, body, and spirit [breath, prana, inspiration]. Participants will explore a conceptual understanding of peace at a personal, local, and global level.

6:00 - 7:00 PM Bring mats and cushions for:

  • meditation with Lama Khedrub of Bodhi Path, Pasadena
  • yoga/brainwave vibration by Dawn Yoga, Pasadena
  • bread breaking

7:00 - 8:00 PM Special presentations (log on below for schedule)

  • "Ayamye," a heartwarming film about generosity, kindness, and compassion by Project Lab Films followed by discussion with filmmakers Tricia Todd and Eric Matthies "Baraka" a visual introduction to the spirit of the world
  • reflective writing by writing instructor Elana Golden, the Writing Studio of Los Angeles
  • "Baking Bread" performance by artists Charlie Hachadourian and Poorang Nori
  • poetry circle by writers Dr. Thelma Reyna , Shahe Mankerian, Marineh Khachadour (bring your favorite peace poem to read)
  • Flamenco workshop by instructor Karine Armen
  • Zumbia dance workshop by instructor Karine Armen
  • Steps to personal peace presentation based on "Secrets from the Sofa" by Dr. Kenneth Herman and "Peace Pilgrim" by Friends of Peace Pilgrim
  • "Personal Journeys" talks by the American Friends Service
  • planting, preparation of organic foods, ongoing arts and crafts projects by community volunteers
