Capital punishment, also known as "the death penalty," formerly called judicial homicide [1, 2], which was changed because it sounded too much like it is, MURDER BY WE THE PEOPLE, is the state-sanctioned killing.
This kind of murder, which is really called the democide of a person as "punishment" for actual, suspected, or supposed misconduct [3].
The sentence ordering that an offender be "punished" in such a manner is called a death sentence, and the act of carrying it out is an execution.
A prisoner who has been sentenced to death and awaits execution is condemned and is commonly referred to as being "on death row" and while alive is usually referred to by cruel staff and fellow inmates as "dead man walking."
Etymologically, the term capital (lit. "of the head," a reference to decapitation, derives from the Latin capitalis, from caput, "head") refers to execution by beheading [4].
But there are various other methods of execution the state and its agents and cheerleaders enjoy -- all of them guilty, without seeming to know it or to care about it, of grave karmic offenses.
For to applaud, approve of, promote, speak in praise of, enable, and/or argue for, even in ignorance, will lead the doers to thereby face misery unutterable when their karma of grave wrong speech -- which is tantamount to murder (like a leader yelling "Fire!" in front of a death squad during an execution -- ripens and bears its bitter fruit in this and/or future lives. For readers who find this hard if not impossible to believe, consider the case of Buddhist monks and nuns. Unlike ordinary Buddhists who uphold the Five Precepts (to abstain from killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, wrong speech, and consuming intoxicants that occasion heedlessness), they by their ordination hold themselves up to a higher standard. That means between 227-311 monastic rules, and countless additional rules of etiquette and conduct. Among all those hundreds of precepts and observations, there are FOUR extremely important "defeat" offenses (parajikas).
Foremost among these is killing. So the question comes up, "What constitutes 'killing'?" As detailed in the Vinaya (Monastic Disciplinary Code), if a monastic were to so much as praise abortion, euthanasia, suicide, or any other kind of killing and it were to result in someone dying (by abortion, suicide, euthanasia, etc.) that monastic would instantly be guilty of the most grave defeat offense, murder, killing, wrong speech. That person would instantly not be a monk or nun and could never re-ordain in this lifetime. This person would face the karmic consequences of killing. How then could anyone think that encouraging, enabling, defending, praising, or otherwise promoting killing in the case of the death penalty (capital punishment) is a trivial or defensible thing?
There are only three reasons for bad karma (unskillful actions), and they are greed, hatred (which includes fear), and delusion (affection/attachment or aversion/cowardice or delusion/ignorance. One speaks and acts in ignorance with an aversion to murder and the murderer and thereby becomes a party to murder and therefore a murderer. What kind of foolishness is this? We will say we are innocent, that we didn't know, that we didn't mean it, that we were only following God's injunction and biblical interpretations by evil men and bad men of the church, patriarchs, fools... It will not matter. We will be guilty of murder just the same. Now one may bring up this poorly worded term "mercy killing" (a euphemism for euthanasia) and defend it, even as one has made excuses to imagine that abortion is fine and even good.
Why would euthanasia, which we imagine is motivated by mercy, goodness, wanting to save money, not wanting to see someone suffer, offering them "dignity" to spare us and save themselves any embarrassment... The fact is when killing -- by drugging, injecting, pulling the plug, depriving the dying of nourishment or water or warmth (as by the ancient killing method of exposure) or air, suffocating, or use of an automatic Kevorkiandevice (Jack's Thanatron) -- one necessarily needs aversion, even if for the decisive moment of injecting, administering deadly drugs, pulling the cord, and so on. Because that intentional, willful act is accompanied by aversion, the doer is guilty of murder/killing and so faces the results at some time in the future, even if one is praised now or deludedly imagines oneself an "angel" of death with the strength and courage to "kill for the good."

The Sin (German Die Versündigung) is an 1880 oil on canvas erotic art painting by the renowned German artist Heinrich Lossow (1843–1897) [1, 2, 3].
The painting depicts a hypocritical Catholic monk engaged in what may be rape, molestation, or patriarchal domination but appears to be consensual copulation (fornication) with a cloistered Catholic nun through an iron gate meant to keep them separated, achieved by using an athletic sexual position; the painting uses the chiaroscurotechnique to contrast its two subjects [4].
While little is known of Lossow's formal motivation, the painting is believed to have been a response and thematically linked to the Vatican's secret affair called the Banquet of Chestnuts.

The anonymous Catholic monk in the painting is sometimes suspected to be Cardinal Cesare himself [4].
The painting caused shame and humiliation as it exposed Church hypocrisy and corruption. There was an uproar in the Vatican, plus significant controversy and outrage in Germany due to its explicit nature and anti-clerical content [6].
Lossow was formally condemned by the Catholic Church [7, 8] for airing the Church's dirty laundry and speaking out of school about the goings on in the administrative heart of the holy Church.
The location of the disappeared artwork is now unknown, but it is believed to be in private ownership [7, 8, 4], possibly rotting in the vast Vatican Archives, a kind of early Smithsonian system for hiding away inconvenient artifacts and specimens that contradict official narratives. The case caused a public outcry due to police mistreatment of the victims who finally came forward, insensitivity to their plight and danger, the bungling of the case, and the offenders' very light punishments.

The victims lived in Ulsan and Changwon, while the perpetrators were from Miryang and Changwon [2]. The perpetrators were initially believed to be members of a high school gang [3], but little evidence for this was found [4] by bungling and unmotivated police on the case.
The gang reached the first female 14-year-old victim over the phone. When she met the gang members, she was sexually assaulted, the whole scene filmed on video to blackmail and extort her.
According to police, she was raped 10 times by three to 24 high school boys at each occurrence. At least 44 boys were involved in the attacks over a period of 11 months [1, 3]. But 70 more were later discovered to be affiliated.
The sexually assaulted girl was ordered to bring her 13-year-old sister and 16-year-old female cousin to Miryang the next time [3] so they could also be gang raped, which is where the cousin was sexually assaulted.
The original police report stated that the younger sister was sexually assaulted as well, but it may only have been a physical assault [4]. The attackers extorted money from their victims [5].
After the sisters' aunt reported the gang rapes to the police [1], only three of the boys were arrested. Following protests from the victims and an outraged public, another nine students were arrested, and 29 were charged.
The perpetrators family members threatened the victims, warning them that they should "watch out for reporting our sons to police" [3]. They were never charged for the crimes of intimidating witnesses, interference with an active case, or terroristic threats.

In a television interview, a female parent of one of the offenders stated, "Why should we feel sorry for the victim's family? Why don't you consider our suffering? Who can resist temptation when girls are trying to seduce boys? They should have taught their daughters how to behave in order to avoid this kind of accident" [5].

The Joe Fritzl case emerged in 2008 when a 73-year-old man name Joe Fritzl named his daughter Elisabeth Fritzl (born 6 April 1966) as the mother of his daughter. Surely, sir, you mean your granddaughter? No, no, I know what I mean.
Joe informed investigators in the city of Amstetten, Lower Austria (Germany's neighboring country, where Adolf Hitler was born), that the mother was a runaway belonging to a cult. When she appeared at the hospital to explain her daughter's illness (never having seen sunshine), she explained that she had been held captive for 24 years by her own child molester, serial rapist father, Josef Fritzl (born 9 April 1935).
Joe Fritzl had sexually and physically assaulted, incestuously abused, and repeatedly raped and impregnated his daughter countless times during her 24-year imprisonment inside a small dungeon Joe built, concealing it an area of their suburban house cellar [1, 2].
The incestuous rapes resulted in the birth of seven children [3]. Three children remained in captivity with their mother, one died shortly after birth and was disposed of by cremation by Joe Fritzl [4], and the other three were brought up out of the dungeon to live with the family upstairs by Fritzl and his wife Rosemarie, claiming they were dropped off by their cult-member daughter Elisabeth, who was in fact still imprisoned just below her mother.
Joe Fritzl convinced his wife, her mother, and the authorities that they were foundlings each time, left at the doorstep by a daughter who could not care for them herself.
Fritzl was finally arrested four decades later by Austrian police on various counts of rape, false imprisonment, murder by negligence, and incest, one week after Elisabeth's eldest daughter, Kerstin, fell ill in the cellar and had to be taken to the hospital by Joe Fritzl himself, against his better judgment.
