GARDENA, Los Angeles - Peaceful demonstrators gathered in the street in front of an auto body shop where police killed (possibly murdered) 18-year-old Andres Guardado at work on Thursday. Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies shot him to death for no apparent reason other than they were afraid as they pulled up on him working as the security guard for the body shop.
Deputies claim they thought they saw the security guard carrying a gun, and being Latino in possession of any shiny object seemed reason enough for them to open fire as he ran for his life. He is now dead, and the family and community are very upset. This is likely to become the site of more demonstrations this weekend bringing attention to police abuses in Los Angeles. More
