It is named after an attempted bank robbery in Stockholm, Sweden, that took place in 1973. Despite its prominence in popular culture, Stockholm Syndrome has not yet been included in the official DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders).
The DSM is the authoritative guide that decides (by vote) what insurance companies will and will not cover as legitimate mental disorders. It is used by clinicians and others for the diagnosis of psychiatric conditions used in the United States.
Psychologists generally consider evidence for this condition to be dubious or nonexistent [3]. Many famous examples of Stockholm Syndrome are either partly or entirely fabricated, including many details of the 1973 bank robbery that gave this syndrome its name [4]. More

How to train the mind in Zen ☯️
(Presence & Purpose) How to train the mind to obey instantly | Miyamoto Musashi
![]() |
| Miyamoto Musashi 宮本無三四 |
He is considered a kensei ("sword saint") of Japan [4]. He was the founder of the Niten Ichi-ryū (or Nito Ichi-ryū) style of swordsmanship.
In his final years, Miyamoto Musashi authored The Book of Five Rings (五輪の書, Go Rin No Sho) and Dokkōdō (獨行道, The Path of Aloneness).
Both documents were bequeathed to Terao Magonojō, Miyamoto Musashi's most important student, seven days before Musashi's death.
On the one hand, The Book of Five Rings [b] focuses on the character of his Niten Ichi-ryū school in a concrete sense, his own practical martial art and its generic significance.
On the other hand, The Path of Aloneness deals with the ideas that lie behind it, as well as his life's philosophy in a few short aphoristic sentences. More

It occurs on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar, which can fall between Sept. 7th and Oct. 8th (inclusive) of the West's Gregorian calendar [1, 2]. On this day, the Chinese believe the Moon is at its fullest and brightest, coinciding with the time of harvest in the middle of autumn [3].

During the festival, lanterns of all sizes and shapes – symbolizing beacons that light the path toward prosperity and good fortune for the people – are carried, displayed, and set aloft.
Mooncakes, a rich pastry typically filled with sweet-bean or lotus-seed paste, are eaten during this time of celebration [6, 7, 8].

It is an official holiday in both mainland China [10] and the island-nation of Taiwan [11]. The day after the Mid-Autumn Festival is an official holiday in both Hong Kong [12] and Macau [13]. More

| Like Guanyin, Moon Goddess Chang'e shines. |
The Mid-Autumn Festival, held in the month of September, is a community event that inspires mindfulness and reflection as friends and family gather together.
In keeping with Taiwanese and Chinese cultural tradition, treats such as rice ball desserts and yummy mooncakes are offered to the community.
Often, the youth make paper lanterns to adorn the festivities of the event or perform musical performances for the Buddhist community.

Under the West Coast's bright full moon for the Mid-Autumn Festival, we often reflect on our own bright intrinsic Buddha-nature -- an inherent purity and perfection of the heart/mind. Similar to how sometimes the light of the Moon is hidden behind clouds, our own difficulties and hardships can sometimes obscure our intrinsic (and fundamentally good) nature.

The Tathāgatagarbha Sūtras use the image of a Buddha (a fully awakened being) inside a lotus flower as a metaphor for the tathāgatagarbha: Sanskrit तथागतगर्भ, buddha-dhātu, sugata-garbha, buddha-garbha (a "womb for a buddha," us realizing our intrisnic Buddha-nature as human beings in this world that seems so far from budhhahood). The term Tathāgata-garbha can mean "the womb" or "embryo"... More

Tai chi (chi gong) is NOT an exercise
Tai chi is today thought of as a Chinese martial art created for combat and self-defense, but that is tai chi chuan, chuan meaning "fist."
For most practitioners, it has (d)evolved into an "exercise," a relaxation technique, and a sport. As an exercise and relaxation technique, tai chi is practiced in set sequences known as "forms" (taolu), usually in gentle, flowing, circular motions that are often described as "meditation in motion," though they may also be performed in faster and more vigorous routines.
As a sport, competitors are judged on their performance in forms, pushing hands, and free sparring. As a martial art, practitioners master the applications of forms and partner work for effective self-defense.
Qigong (Chi gong) is the movement of energy: It is a system of coordinated body-posture and movement, breathing, and meditation [2] said to be useful for the purposes of spirituality, health, and self-defense martial arts training [3]. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, qigong is traditionally viewed by the Chinese and throughout Asia as a practice to cultivate and balance the mystical life-force chi or qi [4]. Qigong practice typically involves moving meditation, coordinating slow-flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing, and a calm meditative state of mind. People qigong worldwide for meditation, recreation, exercise, relaxation, preventive medicine, self-healing, alternative medicine, self-cultivation, and training for martial arts [2].

| One implies the other in pairs. It is not balance |
Many styles of tai chi are practiced, both traditional and modern. While the precise origins are not known, the earliest well-documented practice began during the Ming-Qing transition at Chen Village and Zhabao Village in Henan on the North China Plain, a region where centuries of rebellions, invasions, and adverse economic and social conditions nurtured the development of a wide range of martial arts, including those of the Shaolin (Kung Fu) Buddhist Monastery on Mount Song at the western edge of the plain.
Most modern styles trace their development to five traditional schools:
- Chen,
- Yang,
- Wu (Hao),
- Wu,
- Sun.
This approach was further expanded and institutionalized by the PRC (Peoples Republic of China) government after 1949. In 2020, tai chi was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Secret of the Golden Flower: Taoism
(Asangoham) The Taoist book that changes everything | The Secret of the Golden Flower
The Secret of the Golden Flower (Chinese 太乙金華宗旨, Pinyin Tàiyǐ Jīnhuá Zōngzhǐ) is a Chinese Taoist traditional medical textbook on neidan (inner alchemy) meditation, which also mixes Mahayana Buddhist teachings with some Confucian thoughts [1]. These are the three blended traditions of China.
It was written by means of the spirit-writing (fuji) technique, through two groups, in 1688 and 1692 [2]. It addresses the nature of the Tao.
After publication of the translation by Richard Wilhelm, with commentary by Jungian psychologist Carl Jung, it became modernly popularized among Westerners as a Chinese "religious classic."
It is read in psychological circles for analytical and transpersonal psychology considerations of Taoist meditations [3, 4], although it received little attention in the East [1]. More

Zen: ordering life Taoist way (Lao Tzu)
(Flowing Void) The simple path to put our life in order again | Taoist Wisdom
![]() |
| Zen Comics (Ioanna Salajan) |
The root of Zen "Buddhism": Taoism is a philosophical and religious tradition indigenous to China, emphasizing harmony with the Tao 道, the way of non-interference, going with the flow.
With a range of meaning in Chinese philosophy, Tao has been translated as "way," "road," "path," "technique," generally understood as "natural," an enigmatic process of transformation underlying ultimate reality [2, 3].

A common goal of Taoist practice is self-cultivation, a deeper appreciation of the Tao (akin to the Vedic concept of Brahman, GOD, or Nature), and a more harmonious existence.
Taoist ethics generally emphasize virtues of effortless action (wu wei), naturalness (ziran), simplicity, and the three treasures of compassion, frugality, and humility. [It seems that most of what Western practitioners is Zen Buddhism is actually rooted in Taoism and Confucianism.] More

The Yellow River Civilization (黃河文明 or Huanghe Valley Civilization): Hwan‐huou Civilization is an ancient [proto-] Chinese civilization that prospered in the middle and lower basin of the Yellow River [1]. Agriculture (particularly millet cultivation) was started in the flood plain of the Yellow River, and before long, through flood control and the irrigation of the Yellow River, cities were developed and political power found reinforcement. One of the "four major civilizations of the ancient world," it is often included in textbooks of East Asian history. But the idea of including only the Yellow River Civilization as one of the four biggest ancient civilizations has become outdated as a result of the discovery of other early cultures in China, such as the Yangtze and Liao civilizations. The area saw the Yangshao and Longshan cultures of the Neolithic era and developed into the bronze ware culture of the Shang and Zhou dynasties. More
