(Al Jazeera English) Al Jazeera investigates the shocking truth behind a deadly Israeli attack on a U.S. naval vessel.

We were the best of friends, stabbed in the back.

In 1967, at the height of the Israeli-Arab Six Day War, the Israeli Air Force launched an unprovoked attack on the USS Liberty, a U.S. Navy spy ship that was monitoring Israel secret attack on Egypt -- without the U.S.'s consent or knowledge -- from the safety of international waters in the Mediterranean.

Israeli jet fighters intentionally hit the U.S. flying a large vessel under a U.S. flag and making eye contact and waving at American sailors before killing them with rockets, missiles, machinegun fire, cannon fire, and napalm, before three Israeli torpedo boats moved in to launch a second more devastating attack with a massive torpedo.

Though she did not sink, the Liberty was badly damaged, and the U.S. considered sinking it so it could not be photographed by journalists and get Israel in trouble, since U.S. Pres. Lyndon Johnson was the most pro-Israeli of all presidents. The NSA [poo-pooed] that idea.

Thirty-four US servicemen and civilian analysts were slaughtered, another 171 were wounded. Later, Israel pretended to apologize for a "mistake" as if it had all been an accident. It tried to claim it was all a tragic case of "mistaken identity."

Does Israel already rule the US?

It said, implausibly, that it had thought the ship, which was peacefully monitoring the situation, was a hostile Egyptian naval vessel.

U.S. Pres. Johnson was privately furious but publicly the White House was blackmailed by Israel, threatening to withhold Jewish-American funding of his upcoming presidential campaign and the careers of those in Congress.

Pres. Johnson folded and not to challenge the word of its closest Middle East ally; he was paid off to accept that the attack had been a catastrophic accident. The president was surrounded by Jewish spies, crawling all over the White House and Washington, D.C.

However, as this exclusive Al Jazeera investigation reveals, fresh evidence -- as well as evidence known and suppressed at the time -- throws new light on exactly what happened that fateful day and the remarkable cover up that followed. A massive coverup then ensued, hiding what had happened. The press, waiting at the dock, saw nothing, and the American body parts were incinerated.

ISRAEL'S CONCLUSION

Current US Secretary of Sate Blinken agrees.

"At the time, U.S. Undersecretary of State George Ball noted that 'it seemed to the Israelis that as American leaders did not have the courage to punish them for the blatant murder of American servicemen, they'll let us [Israel] get away with anything.'"

We Meant Well in Iraq (look inside)

WASHINGTON DC (WQ/AP/FOX/LIP) President Barack S. Obama says the U.S. is prepared to take targeted military actions [more "smart" bombs, "precision" bombing runs, and "surgical" strikes?] in Iraq if they would help fight a growing threat from extremist militants. He also says the U.S. is ready to send as many as 300 military "advisers" [a euphemism for special forces soldier] to Iraq.

Obama is offering an update to U.S. operations in Iraq, where "al-Qaeda-inspired" militants have sparked instability. He says the United States is forming joint operations centers in Baghdad and northern Iraq.

But Obama emphasizes that American combat troops would not be returning to Iraq [unless they do, which will be decided later].

Obama says the U.S. has increased its intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance [spying and exploiting of assets, and war-as-usual] operations in Iraq to better understand the threats to Baghdad. [Having traded blood for oil, we have more blood to trade so we have to protect the refineries innocent people of Iraq.]

(Occupy Democrats) Dick Cheney was blamed for the CURRENT crisis in Iraq on the rightwing haven FOX News of all places. During an interview with mouthpiece Megyn "Reagan" Kelly (The Kelly File) where Dick attempted to pin the blame on his relative Pres. Obama.

Cheney attempted to absolve the previous three Bush administrations of any responsibility for Iraq's disarray saying that they went into the country for good reasons, which we turned out to be deliberate lies used as pretexts for imperial invasions and US war crimes. That was wishful thinking by the NYT

Buddhist Rep. Colleen Hanabusa (Democrat, Hawaii) on Thursday said that she will stop President Obama, who unilaterally announced the deployment of up to 300 military "advisers" [that's what we called boots on the ground in our war on Vietnam] to Iraq.
 
He is using expanded executive war powers applicable to Iraq and Afghanistan (AUMF) invented using the 9/11 pretext and Patriot Act, which means he can make initial moves without declaring war or asking Congress for permission before sinking the country in yet another war. (Of course, we never left Iraq, and we have no plans to leave Afghanistan; all we are going to do is change the name of "soldiers" to "advisors," "contractors," "experts," and "investors."
 

What Bush/Cheney started Obama intensifies.

The president, face, and mouthpiece for the MIC (military-industrial complex) left open the possibility of U.S. airstrikes against Sunni Muslim "militants" who are said to have taken back large parts of their country. Colleen Hanabusa of Hawaii, who successfully introduced an amendment that passed by UNANIMOUS consent this week to prevent the deployment of U.S. troops to Iraq without congressional approval. More
