UCLA is the best for mindfulness! |
Mindfulness (sati, smrti, mindful awareness or presence of mind, objective attention, detached attentiveness) is the moment-by-moment process of openly accepting while dispassionately observing our physical, emotional, and mental experiences free of our customary reactions to them of clinging, resisting, or becoming deluded.
"Right mindfulness," which the Buddha called samma sati, has scientific support. It reduces stress, improves attention, boosts mood and immunity, reduces emotional reactivity, and promotes health and well-being. But it is harmful when done incorrectly.
