Anger fueled Metallica's formation (doc)
Producer Stuart Kirwan; Seth Auberon, Sheldon S., A. Wells COMMENTARY, Wisdom Quarterly
Danzig must be turning in his bed.
Metallica used to be cool...for the first two albums, but then they got as goy as their man-kissing drummer, who ruined Napster and free music. It's not clear why so many people like this band when other better groups existed like Slayer, Iron Maiden, Carcass, Abattoir, and hardcore music, crossover, punk, speed metal. Guess it was just that they dressed like fans rather than feminine hair farmers, although it's hard to miss the singer Jimmy Hetfield's de rigueur tight pleather stretchies. If we had our own radio station on the internet that played only what we liked, the hardest of hard and banned music, we'd try to keep it Metallica-free and play the better stuff. But commercial radio being what it is, stations have to please the fans. For some people Ga'tellica is as hard as they'll ever get, with their ballads and depressing singalongs. Ah, if only they'd go back to the beginning and do some Creeping Death or something. Sorry, fans, but c'mon. It's like Anthrax compared to Van Halen. Metallica is weak sauce. Would that it were otherwise. All that's good is "Master of Puppets," and that's overplayed. We should say that Kirk Hammet is one of the greatest guitarists and the best thing to come out of this ensemble. Give credit where credit is due.
